Returning to Daidouji Manor after your adventure in the Dark version of Tsukudo-cho will trigger this encounter. Be sure to have your strongest demons ready as you prepare to delve deeper into the Daidouji family saga.
Ichimokuren: Location and Affinities
After uncovering the secret hidden in the basement of the Daidouji residence, you’ll also have to face a challenging battle against the Gashadokuro and its allies. Once you’ve triumphed, make sure to heal up using available items or at the Goumaden, which you can access via Dragon’s Fount near the basement entrance.
Next, head back to the Narumi Detective Agency for a brief conversation, and then prepare to revisit Daidouji Manor. Before heading back, consider the following preparations for the impending battle:
- Visit Kounno-ya to gather any necessary items. This will keep Raidou Kuzunoha XIV and his companions in good shape and provide plenty of MAG to keep attacking the boss. Stock up on Medicines and Anti-Dizzy items for the fight ahead.
- Go down into the Goumaden to update your Devil Chart with any newly discovered devils and fuse together powerful familiars. Pay special attention to Volt Order Demons for this battle, but you can also begin to fuse your first Elemental Order demons at this stage.

For this duel, we suggest summoning a powerful Volt Order demon like Raiju, which is one of the strongest options available early in the game. Since Ichimokuren will use support demons in combat, having a Pyro Order demon such as Jack-o’-Lantern or Orthrus will be beneficial.
Even though Ichimokuren nullifies fire spells, it’s essential to keep some Pyro Order magic on hand, as the support demons he summons will take damage primarily from fire attacks.
How to Defeat Ichimokuren
Upon arriving at Daidouji Manor, a brief cutscene will play before you’re locked into the battle. Rasputin stands in your way, unwilling to let Raidou pursue Kiyoshi Daidouji, who has recently transformed into the Red Cape. To stop you, he summons the fearsome Ichimokuren.
As noted in the affinity chart, Ichimokuren is weak to electric magic, so make sure to summon your strongest Volt Order demons for this encounter. You can adjust your battle setup anytime in the pause menu, or summon fresh demons from Raidou’s tubes during the fight. The game will even highlight which demons will be most effective!
A crucial point to remember is that you cannot attack Ichimokuren immediately, as it is immune to damage while its eye is closed. At the start of the fight, Ichimokuren will close its eye and summon two Turdak that you must defeat first.
The Turdak are weak to both Force and Pyro, so deploy any demons with fire magic and use Raidou’s swift sword maneuvers. Since you can’t harm Ichimokuren yet, focus on taking down the Turdak first.
Once you defeat the Turdak, Ichimokuren will reopen its eye, allowing you to inflict damage. Utilize Volt Order demons while its eye is open, exploiting its weakness and staggering it, which enables Raidou to land several powerful strikes. Use lighter sword attacks to replenish your MAG as needed, but this is the perfect moment for heavy attacks, as Ichimokuren will not be vulnerable for long.
When Ichimokuren’s eye closes again, it will summon another pair of Turdak before it can be attacked once more. This cycle will repeat until Ichimokuren has about a quarter of its health remaining.
At this stage, it will not only call forth another pair of Turdak but will also switch to offensive tactics. The tentacles become especially dangerous, offering Ichimokuren a significant range. The Tentacle Whip deals physical damage and may inflict Dizzy on Raidou or his allies, so watch everyone’s status closely.
If you don’t have a demon that knows Patra to cure Dizzy costs some of your MAG, consider keeping some Anti-Dizzy items in your inventory. You can get these from Kounno-ya throughout the game. Since you’ll face various status ailments, chat with the old man to see his latest stock – he updates it between chapters, so replenishing your supplies is a good idea.
As the battle enters its final phase, where Ichimokuren is actively attacking, you can concentrate on taking it down. You don’t need to finish off the last Turdak pair if Ichimokuren is nearing defeat. Instead, let your demons handle them while you dodge the Tentacle Whip and get up close, using your Volt Skills to exploit its weakness until you secure the win.
