In Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, you’ll have the opportunity to craft a variety of unique demons for Raidou to utilize in the Goumaden. You’ll also be capturing numerous devils to use as fusion materials. While some demons may not naturally learn specific skills, that doesn’t mean they can’t acquire them.
By collecting various skill books as rewards from different quests, you can enhance your companions’ abilities. You can teach them new skills between story missions and even pass down skills they have already mastered.
How to Use Skill Books
When you take on the role of Raidou Kuzunoha, each demon you confine or fuse will possess a unique set of innate skills and attacks that are determined by its Demon Order and level progression. However, there are effective strategies to equip your support demons with new skills, which can prove invaluable during battles.
In addition to leveling up or fusing your demons in different ways with Victor at the Goumaden, Raidou can use skill books from his inventory to teach demons new abilities. This can be done at any time through the main menu, including while in the Dark Realm, though not during actual combat.
When you utilize a skill book, you can access a variety of moves, such as:
- Elemental skills: A great way to diversify a single demon’s abilities.
- Physical attacks: Useful for conserving MAG usage during battles.
- Healing magic: Essential for keeping your team in fighting shape.
- Passive skills: Provide immediate stat boosts or other advantages when entering combat.
When teaching a demon a new move using a skill book, it will progress through three stages of learning. The initial step is simple: after the first study session, the demon can execute the move.
However, you’ll need to wait until the demon reaches level two in skill mastery before it can pass this skill along during fusion. This is important if you’re planning to get inventive with fusions.
You’ll notice a skill mastery system displayed with each ability on a demon’s information page. This mastery is influenced by the demon’s Order and how it aligns with the move’s Order in the skill book, as well as the number of study sessions required for each skill. Some skills are more complex and demand more time to learn.
Where to Get Skill Books
There are several ways to obtain skill books in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. One primary method is through rewards for confining demons during battles. Even if your capacity is full, demons often drop skill books as loot if you attempt to confine them.
During your adventure, you will also be working to maximize a demon’s Loyalty to Raidou. When this occurs, they may provide a combat boost, such as replenishing HP or MAG, and often reward you with a skill book for a skill they already know.
Engaging in optional side missions will also yield skill books as rewards. Completing tasks like purging Arial Rifts or addressing Case Files between major chapters is a great way to gather additional skill books while taking breaks from the main storyline.
Lastly, you can purchase specific skill books from Kounno-ya, located on the eastern side of Tsukubu-cho, where you access the Goumaden and stock up on items. This shop offers a selection of healing items and a few basic skill books, which can be especially useful for demons that can’t learn certain elemental skills naturally.
