As you dive deeper into Core Keeper, you’ll find yourself mining a lot, starting with dirt blocks to gather copper ores and advancing to more valuable resources in crystalline biomes. You can choose from various pickaxes or use sledgehammers for large-scale demolition, but when it comes to clearing out vast areas quickly, bombs can be your best friends.
Both bombs and grenades let you toss several at once over a wide area, causing them to explode sequentially to yield plenty of ores. You can also connect specific types using electronic wires, creating a chain reaction to clear space for new constructions. Plus, these explosives can effectively deal with enemies.
Crafting Bombs
To create the first tier of bombs, you’ll need to make an Alchemy Table. You can build this once you have a Tin Workbench, which requires eight Woods, eight Slimes, and five Tin Bars.
Placing the Alchemy Table gives you access to basic potions, grenades, and bombs, primarily crafted using Bomb Peppers. These peppers are abundant in the Underground and Clay Cave biomes.
You can also find bombs and grenades in chests, wooden crates, during fishing, and occasionally dropped by certain enemies like Bomb Scarabs.
The mid-tier bombs require a Laboratory Table for crafting. This table can be made at a Scarlet Workbench or higher and needs 15 Planks and 10 Scarlet Bars.
Low-Tier Bombs and Grenades
Most low-tier bombs and grenades can be either thrown or placed, exploding a few seconds later. However, the Dynamite Pack and Explosives Deposit explode only when hit or wired to a lever or pressure plate.
Grenades can also damage blocks like bombs but have the added Wind-Up Throw skill, making them ideal for taking down enemies and bosses.
