In Umamusume: Pretty Derby, the core of the game centers on training your characters, known as Derby, to compete in PvP races. To achieve stellar results, you’ll need to use the gacha feature to summon high-quality items.
The gacha system offers mainly two types of items: Trainee Cards and Support Cards. While obtaining a specific character or card is left to chance, there’s a pity system that ensures you’ll get featured items eventually.
How the Pity System Works
Outside of the initial banners, Umamusume: Pretty Derby offers two main banners: one for Trainee Cards and another for Support Cards. This game’s gacha system differs from others in that there isn’t a specific featured banner. Instead, new characters and cards are rolled out on their corresponding banners with a structured pity system.
In this system, you earn one point for each pull. After accumulating 200 points, you can exchange them for the featured item without any additional cost in Carats.
Note: The points for both Trainee and Support Card banners are tracked separately.
However, reaching 200 points can be quite challenging since banners in this game are typically available for only two weeks. Once a banner ends, your points reset to zero, but any accumulated points will convert to Clovers. You can use these Clovers in the shop to acquire more pulls or upgrade items, though item prices can be steep.
It’s also worth noting that the odds of pulling the featured character or card when hitting a three-star or SSR rating are substantially lower compared to other options. If you manage to pull the featured Trainee, you’ll receive 90 fragments instead of the standard 60, or you can redeem them after hitting 200 points.
Tip: Once you have a Trainee, you can purchase fragments in the Statue shop, starting at one statue for a fragment, though the price increases after every 25 fragments.
Is It Worth Saving in Umamusume: Pretty Derby?
Given the high point requirement, it’s advisable to save your Carats while playing Umamusume: Pretty Derby. While it’s wise to use some of your starting Carats to secure decent Support Cards, it’s generally best to conserve resources after the initial rewards.
After getting settled into the game, focus on saving your Carats for specific cards or Derby that catch your interest. This approach will ensure you can make strategic pulls when the time is right.
