Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is just what you’d expect from a Hideo Kojima game—packed with hidden gems, nods to past titles, and plenty of quirky moments. Sam Bridges’ new journey is no different. Along with numerous references to the iconic Metal Gear Solid series, there’s a charming detail that makes players truly feel like part of the story.
In Death Stranding 2, you can have the entire Magellan DHV crew—plus a special guest—sing Happy Birthday to you. Here’s how to unlock this unique cutscene and what to look forward to.
How to Unlock the Happy Birthday Cutscene
At the start of any game in Death Stranding 2, once you pick your difficulty level, you’ll be prompted to enter your birthday. Shortly after, you’ll see a message suggesting that those born under specific constellations may be more prone to developing DOOMs. It’s a neat touch, and you might just move on from there.
This information becomes useful in the game when you encounter the Doctor at The Motherhood during Main Order 26. The Motherhood is a terminal that will require a code upon your first visit, and that code is your birthday.
But wait, there’s another surprise! If you access the Magellan or awaken there on your birthday, a special cutscene is activated. All the crew members gather to celebrate you. Initially, Heartman attempts to bring you a cake, only for Charlie to cause a mishap. Just when it seems like the celebration might be ruined, your favorite villain, Higgs, appears with a pizza to save the day.
Keep in mind that you can’t change your birthday after you’ve set it. However, you can start a new game, choose a different date, unlock the Magellan in Australia, and enjoy this entertaining scene.
