In Chapter Four of the retro RPG adventure, Deltarune, you take on the role of Kris, who ventures into the Dark World with friends Susie and Ralsei to seal a Dark Fountain. Throughout the journey, they encounter various Darkners, including a mysterious elderly man with an unusual study and quirky behavior.
As you navigate through what appears to be a mansion, you’ll encounter several puzzles that involve pianos capable of shifting bookcases when played. Positioning these bookcases correctly will allow you to access areas that were previously unreachable.
How to Solve the Pink and Green Piano Puzzle
To start, head to the northwest corner of the elderly man’s study. From there, go north past a small library and a blue piano puzzle until you find a hall with a door to the north. In the northern section lies a piano that you need to play a tune on to open the gate. The first piece can be found in a room all the way to the right of the hallway.
You might notice climbable spots on some walls. To use these, you’ll need a tool, which you can obtain by solving the pink and green piano puzzle.
When you enter the eastern room, you’ll confront a piano that is half pink and half green. It’s a tricky puzzle, but Ralsei will offer to complete it for you. However, you can solve it on your own and claim a treasure chest located at the bottom of the puzzle.
To interact with the piano, begin playing it. Press C on your keyboard to alternate between colors. Use the directional keys to move the bookcases and hit Z to push them. You can first focus on getting the chest at the bottom of the room.
- Push the pink bookcase all the way to the left.
- Move the green bookcase to the left, then push it up against the pink bookcase. Next, push it to the right, then down.
- Switch to the pink bookcase, push it down, and then move it towards the green bookcase on the right.
Once the bookcases are positioned correctly, you can cross over them to access the treasure chest for an item. After that, return to the piano and complete the puzzle to progress to the room in the northeast corner.
- Push the pink bookcase up, then move it to the left, placing it back in the upper-left corner.
- Control the green bookcase and push it up.
- Switch to the pink bookcase and move it to the right.
- With the green bookcase, push it down, then left, then up. Finally, push it to the right to align it against the pink bookcase.
After this, you can easily cross the shelves to retrieve the second half of the piano piece in the next room.
