Now that you’ve received your complimentary Galdur Pup pet in Palia, it’s time to grab the free courier pack. This pack will enable your pet to fetch items from your backpack, letting you send up to four items back to your plot.
To begin the Home And Back Again quest, you’ll explore how to communicate with your pup, craft the courier pack, and create an affection charm that helps your pet locate you. Don’t worry; we’ll guide you step-by-step through the process.
Unlocking Courier Pet Features
After finishing the Nurture of Shadows quest, your new Echoling seems ready to communicate, but you won’t understand it yet. This triggers the Home And Back Again quest.
Tamala suggests chatting with Ulfe, who might be able to interpret for you. You can find him in the cave where you first rescued him, on the eastern side of Deep Woods.
When you speak to Ulfe, you discover he’s very hungry. To get his assistance, you’ll need to prepare a Bean Burger and Flowtato Fries with Ketchup.
Recipe Tips:
Both recipes can be found in the Elderwoods. The Bean Burger recipe is located in a chest inside Ulfe’s cave, while the Flowtato Fries recipe can be found in a chest between the entrance to Central Stables and Lilac Cavern.
Once Ulfe has been fed, he reveals that the Echoling is eager to help carry your items. All you need to do now is create a pack for it. Ulfe will inform you of the materials required for the pack.
When you have everything, head over to Jel, who will sew the pack for you. Once he’s done, Jel raises an important question: how will your pet find you after you send it home?
Return to Tamala, and she will advise you that since the Echoling is guided by love and its bond with you, an affection charm is needed. This charm will allow the pet to find you through the connection of love.
Materials for the Affection Charm
To craft this charm, you’ll need:
- 1 Pumpkin Stew (because apparently, Tamala can’t cook for herself)
- 1 Ogopuu Scale
- 1 Shmole Spore
- 1 Black Pearl (these can be found inside Elder Clan Mushrooms)
If you don’t have the Pumpkin Stew recipe yet, you can purchase it from the Cooking Guild shop once you’ve reached cooking skill level eight.
Bring these materials to Tamala, who will craft the affection charm for you. At this point, you don’t need to do anything else! The charm will be automatically equipped, unlocking the Courier Pet Functionality for any pet, not just the Galdur Pup.
Your pet can carry up to four items at a time (or more if you purchased the Founder’s Pack, which allows for double the capacity).
To send items with your pet, place them in the four slots on the right, then click the Courier Pet button. A confirmation window will pop up asking you to verify the items you’re sending. After dispatching your pet, keep in mind there’s a 10-minute cooldown before you can use the service again.
