Mastering combat in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army involves learning a lot, but you’ll pick up upgrades and abilities that will help Raidou Kuzunoha XIV become an exceptional swordsman.
As Raidou follows up your demons’ magical attacks with his sword, make sure to visit the Goumaden frequently to see if there are new Sword Alchemy opportunities available. Victor provides several impressive ways to upgrade your weapon in Raidou Remastered, but you’ll need the right materials to do so.
How to Upgrade Raidou’s Weapon
In the second act of the game, Raidou will have a quick scene with Narumi and Tae Asakura back at the Agency’s headquarters before kicking off the next chapter. However, Gouto will let you know that there’s a letter from Yatagarasu. This letter offers several key features:
- Wind Blade: a sword skill that allows Raidou to use Wind magic, much like the Pyro, Frost, and Volt Skills that you probably relied on in the first chapter.
- The option to change your title as you see fit, with many nickname options for Raidou to choose from.
- Notice that Sword Alchemy is now unlocked at the Goumaden.
Gouto emphasizes the importance of Sword Alchemy, so it’s best to head to the Goumaden before proceeding to talk to Ryugu’s owner in Ginza-cho. Victor will give you a brief overview and more advice if as needed, but he recommends you focus on fusing new weapons for Raidou at the Goumaden.
Throughout the first chapter, you likely collected purple fusion materials as battle rewards—items that might have seemed confusing at the time. Make sure you stock up on these unique fusion materials to craft the most powerful weapons in Raidou Remastered.
Victor provides an upgrade tree for swords, spears, and battle axes. Each weapon category focuses on different stats when fused, impacting Raidou’s performance in combat. Additionally, fusing new weapons also enables you to learn new sword skills, adding more complexity to your choices.
There’s no definitive “best” weapon class for Raidou, but it’s wise to choose upgrades that enhance the stats that align with your playstyle. If you often find yourself low on HP, look for weapons that boost Vitality rather than offensive stats like Strength or Magic.
When a weapon provides a new skill, you’ll see this new ability and can adjust Raidou’s load-out before returning to the Goumaden.
It’s worth noting that you need to unlock each weapon progressively to access the next ones in Victor’s upgrade path. For instance, you can’t fuse the second sword, the Kotetsu, without first upgrading the Bizen-Osafune, as you’ll need the previous weapon as a fusion material.
The boosts to your stats are cumulative. For example, the Kotetsu adds two Magic points while the Bizen-Osafune contributes one, so upgrading to the Kotetsu increases your Magic stat to plus-two instead of adding two to your existing score.
