Final Fantasy 14 features special Itinerant Moogle events that pop up periodically, giving players an opportunity to earn exclusive rewards. These can include mounts from Extreme Trials, minions from tough content, Orchestrion Rolls, or new cosmetic accessories.
Before you can snag all that exciting loot, you’ll need to gather Irregular Tomestones, which are specific to the current Moogle event. You can obtain them through various activities, such as tackling specific dungeons or finishing particular challenges. For the Hunt for Allegory Moogle event, one of your tasks is to catch a Chirurgeon, and we’ll guide you through that process here.
How to Find a Chirurgeon
The Chirurgeon is a River Fish located in the Central Shroud. You’ll want to fish close to the Bentbranch Meadows Aetheryte (X:22, Y:21), specifically in the river nearby. Fortunately, this fish can be caught at any time, as it has no weather or time constraints.
How to Catch a Chirurgeon
Before casting your line, you’ll need some Moth Pupa bait. You can purchase this bait from Admairanda, the Tool Supplier, located in Old Gridania (X:14.4, Y:10.0), for just one gil each. Be sure to grab several, as catching the fish might take a few tries.
Once you have your bait, make your way to the Bentbranch Meadows and cast your rod. Use the Moth Pupa to catch a Striped Goby, which will show a single exclamation point on the reel.
Next, employ Mooch on the Striped Goby to use it as bait for the Chirurgeon. This technique is essential to successfully locating this fish.
Depending on the size of the Striped Goby, you can use either Mooch 1 or Mooch 2. Continue using the Goby as bait until a 3-exclamation-point reel indicates the presence of a Chirurgeon. After you reel it in, be sure to collect your ten Irregular Tomestones of Allegory from the Mogpendium.
