Each Nightlord in Elden Ring Nightreign presents a formidable challenge, making them all memorable in unique ways. Once you defeat Gladius, you’ll have the opportunity to confront the other Nightlords on your quest toward the Night Aspect that commands the looming night. Among these foes, the Darkdrift Knight is particularly tough.
Fulghor, a centaur wielding Holy powers, will punish any challengers trying to hold their ground. With the speed of a horse, you need to match Fulghor’s quickness to stand a chance in this battle.
Strengths and Weaknesses of Darkdrift Knight
Fulghor’s moves are quite predictable, making it easier to prepare for the encounter. Due to their exceptional speed, using lighter weapons will serve you well. If you want to take them down effectively, consider bringing along Lightning weapons. While these do consistent damage, Lightning attacks can also interrupt Fulghor’s most powerful moves.
In terms of defense, you should boost both your Affinity and Physical resistances, especially against Holy and Slash attacks. With Lightning on your side, you can dodge a majority of the Holy strikes, making Physical resistances more crucial to invest in.
Recommended Characters
Fulghor is incredibly fast, so slower characters that drain stamina when dodging or sprinting won’t be effective. Given Fulghor’s constant movement, you’ll need characters that can keep up.
Wydler is a solid choice. Quick and armed with Greatswords, they strike a great balance between speed and damage. The Claw Shot helps chase down Fulghor when they start dashing away.
Executor is another excellent option. While they may not match Fulghor’s speed, their ability to deflect most attacks effectively diminishes Fulghor’s advantage. The Ultimate Art can also catch Fulghor no matter how fast they move, breaking their stance with ease.
Ironeye can be useful, though Fulghor’s speed may hinder their arrows’ effectiveness. Raider could work if you manage to slow Fulghor down, but their Colossal weapons may struggle to land hits consistently.
Revenant can also come in handy. Despite having low HP, her summons can cover ground effectively, and she can access powerful Lightning Incantations using Sacred Seals. In contrast, Recluse may struggle to utilize Lightning effectively and won’t deliver strong damage against Fulghor.
Moveset of Darkdrift Knight
Like the other Nightlords, Fulghor has two phases, but their second phase differs significantly. It generally extends the first phase attacks, emphasizing newer moves.
During the second phase, Fulghor becomes more mobile, requiring players to keep on their toes. Here’s an overview of their moves and how to counter them:
-
Phase 1
Attack
Description
Counter
Jumping Slam
Fulghor leaps into the air and slams down, creating an area-of-effect.
Dodge as he jumps to avoid taking damage.
Swipes And Stabs
As Fulghor dashes around, he’ll swipe and stab with his spear.
Dodge towards Fulghor to stay close and evade this attack.
Debris Swipe
He suddenly halts and digs his spear into the ground, sending debris your way.
Dodge as the spear lifts, while closing the distance to Fulghor.
Stomp
Fulghor stomps in front of himself, knocking back anyone nearby.
Stay to the sides to avoid this powerful move.
Sword Drag
Fulghor drags his spear while charging towards you, striking along the entire path.
Keep your distance as its range is limited.
Spear Enhance
He charges his spear, boosting its power and causing spears to rise from the ground.
Lightning can cancel this charge, or break his stance with Ultimate Arts.

Phase 2
Attack
Description
Counter
Rising Swords
After using Spear Enhance, multiple spears rise throughout the arena.
Keep moving and stay close to avoid being hit. Otherwise, wait for them to drop.
Arm Swipes
Fulghor swipes rapidly with his extended arm, up to three times in quick succession.
Stay close to his side to dodge these attacks effectively.
Miasma Spread
A purple miasma is released, damaging anyone caught in it.
Remain near Fulghor, as the miasma disperses shortly after being released.
Miasma Slam
Fulghor jumps like in the previous slam, but with a wider area-of-effect and more miasma.
Keep your distance, as this attack has a larger impact zone.
During the second phase, Fulghor will often prefer using arm swipes over spear attacks, making it tougher for ranged characters. Thus, ensure you have a melee character ready for this part of the fight.
Tips for Defeating Darkdrift Knight
While bringing Lightning assists significantly in battling Fulghor, it’s not a necessity. It can counter his Spear Enhance move instantly, but with all characters focusing on strong attacks, you can break his stance just as effectively. Thus, staying close to Fulghor during the fight is vital.
Feel free to use your Ultimate Arts to tackle Fulghor. Even if not for damage, they can prevent him from sprinting, granting slower characters like Raider the opportunity to close in and deal substantial damage.
