How to Retrieve Excalibur

Make your way to the Horns of the South and enter the keep to find Excalibur embedded in stone right in front of the Captain’s Quarters. If you attempt to touch the sword, your HP will begin to drop rapidly. This dangerous weapon will drain your strength and potentially lead to your demise if you’re unprepared.

To stand a chance at retrieving Excalibur, you must advance through the Shadows of the Horns quest to uncover the sword’s secret, and then earn the approval of the lord of the sea. Even with this approval, the task ahead will be challenging.

However, with the right preparation, you can overcome the obstacles associated with this blade. Whether you choose to level up your character for more HP to endure the countdown while pulling the sword or stockpile health potions, here are some effective strategies for obtaining Excalibur from its stone prison:

• Slow Down Time: Utilize King Arthur’s powers to slow down time while you interact with the sword. This way, the timer continues to deplete at normal speed, but your health diminishes more slowly.
• Use Healing Potions: Basic healing potions will suffice, but you’ll need plenty. You can also use items like Queen’s Honey and The Strongest Potion to enhance your health, although they are harder to find.
• Lower Your Difficulty: On easier settings, your health drains more slowly. If you’re not up for a tough challenge, consider lowering the difficulty just for this part and changing it back afterward.
• Increase Your Health: For a bold move, use an Origin Potion to reset your skills and attributes, then invest everything into health. While this isn’t commonly advised, it can be effective.

Additionally, you can earn an achievement by retrieving the sword without any external assistance. This is best accomplished with healing potions, as you won’t receive any backup from the Keepers to help you survive!
