Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon allows you to create any type of character you want, whether that’s a bold warrior or a cunning thief. While the warrior experience can be thrilling, embracing the thief role offers a unique appeal. We’re here to guide you as you start your journey in the shadows.
Upon awakening on Asylum Island, you’ll begin to shape your fate. Your choices will determine your abilities and skills, so we’ll outline the best ways to set yourself up for success in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon.
Choosing Your Starting Stats
As you begin in the Asylum’s prisons, a Red Priest will engage you in conversation. Your responses will affect your starting skills and stats, leading to bonuses that help shape your character.
When the priest inquires about your activities before being captured, provide one of the following answers to create an effective stealth character:
-
Hunting Playstyle Bonus
If you prefer agility paired with archery, choose “I was hunting.” This option grants you these starting stat bonuses:
- Archery +3
- Medium Armor +3
- Athletics +3
- Evasion +3
- Sneak +3
This setup is ideal for players who appreciate stealth but are not afraid to engage in close combat as well.
-
Thieving Playstyle Bonus
If your style leans more towards sneaky tactics, opt for “I was avoiding the city guards. Trying to sell some… goods.” You’ll receive the following bonuses:
- One-handed +3
- Archery +3
- Light Armor +3
- Agility +3
- Sneak +3
This stat arrangement is great for staying unseen and avoiding direct confrontation, making you better suited for stealthy strategies.
The priest may ask for further details, allowing you to gain additional bonuses based on your preferences.
If you decide you’d like to change your mind, don’t worry. There are ways to adjust your character after the initial setup, although you can’t modify the starting bonuses.
Once you’re set on your choices, you’ll embark on your adventure and explore Asylum Island on your own. Use this time to gather resources and test your abilities, as you’ll have opportunities to adjust them later.
