Completing Subnautica 2’s Delay: Community Plans Review Bombs

Fans of Subnautica have faced a tough time recently. Earlier this month, the original creators of the game were let go by Unknown Worlds, and Krafton promised that the game wouldn’t change. This announcement left many players anxious.

After the layoffs, one of the studio’s founders revealed that Subnautica 2 was set to launch in early access. However, rumors suggested a delay to avoid paying staff $250 million in bonuses, pushing the game’s release to 2026.

Initial calls for a boycott didn’t gain traction, as players wanted to see what would happen next. But with the news of the delay for Subnautica 2, many in the community have united, planning to review bomb the game and remove it from their wishlists.

Subnautica 2 Fans Are Really Planning To Take Action This Time

A new thread on the game’s subreddit has already received over 13,000 upvotes in a short time. This thread urges players to avoid supporting what they call “shady business practices” and not to purchase the sequel.

Users were quick to back the message. One commenter said, “I never thought I’d say this about Subnautica, but I won’t buy the sequel. The only way to protest the decisions made is to play something else.”

With the release date slated for 2026, players can’t boycott through non-purchases, so they found other ways to express their dissatisfaction with Krafton. One user advised, “Take it off your Steam wishlist, where it is currently the #2 most-wishlisted game. That should send a message.” Another added, “You can also declare that you won’t buy the game and support posts like this. The more people know, the more we can protest.”

Some players plan to take a different approach, saying they would review-bomb the game upon its release. They believe this could significantly impact buying decisions. Community members also shared the email addresses of Krafton’s senior team, hinting at plans to contact them directly.

While the boycott efforts are currently scattered, the news of the delay has certainly sparked action among fans.
