The life of a college athlete is hectic, and this is perfectly captured in the Road To Glory mode of College Football 26. You’ll be managing various aspects of your athlete’s weekly routine, which will influence their development as a player.
One key decision you need to make is how intensely you’ll push your character to earn skill points. These points are essential for significantly enhancing your player’s abilities, but chasing after them without a balanced approach can backfire.
How to Start with More Skill Points
When you design your character, you’ll choose the number of stars for your recruit. Opting for a player with more stars means you’ll have a better overall rating and additional skill points to allocate at the start.
However, with higher stars comes elevated expectations for performance.
How to Earn Skill Points in Your Weekly Agenda
Your player will follow a weekly agenda, where you can allocate time across various categories. These sections offer different benefits, including experience points (XP).
Choosing the Training section in your Weekly Agenda rewards your player with XP and skill points, but it also adds physical strain.
Increased strain can temporarily lower some of your player’s ratings and raise their injury risk.
Don’t Overdo Your Training
You can select Training weekly, but overloading on it can backfire. Doing so risks injury, affects your performance, and ignores other critical life aspects. For instance, if your GPA drops below 2.0, your player might be benched.
Distribute your weekly hours wisely. Focus on training to improve your player quickly, but do it sustainably.
How to Earn Skill Points in Practice

Each week, your player can practice a drill of your choice. The quality of your performance will impact how much XP you gain and how your coach’s confidence in you develops.
Choose Drills You Can Excel In

It’s beneficial to pick drills you are confident in. While challenging yourself is great, consistently scoring low can hinder your player’s progress.
How to Earn Skill Points with Game Performance
Your performance in games plays a vital role in your player’s growth and how quickly you earn skill points. Poor performance can set you back, while playing well can accelerate your advancement.
Do Your Job

The main thing to remember is to stick to your role, no matter your position. While there is a time for improvisation, most plays require you to follow the game plan. Your teammates will depend on you to perform the assigned tasks.
For example, if you’re a Linebacker instructed to drop back into a zone, do it. You’ll receive XP for covering players entering your zone, whether you are near the ball or not.
There are moments when making a bold move can lead to a big play. The more you play, the better you’ll understand when to stick to your assigned role and when to take risks.
