Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 4 is full of new enemies and loot. Players can find the bug Queen’s powerful weapons and Medallions, protected by her and her crawling minions.
As you travel across the map, fighting other players, you’ll also face large groups of bugs in three key locations. Defeating these swarms is necessary to reach the Queen and claim her mythic loot.
How to Find and Defeat Queen Bugs in Fortnite
The Queen bugs lurk in three bug-filled spots on the Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 4 map: Ranger’s Ruin, The Hive, and Demon’s Debris. When you enter any of these locations, you’ll be warned that the danger level is high.
It’s a good idea to carry a mid-range weapon, like an assault rifle or the new Bug Blaster, to keep your distance from the bugs. Since battles can become chaotic immediately after dropping in, you might want to land just outside the area, giving you time to heal, gather shields, and loot up. On the other hand, jumping straight into the fight could give you access to better weapons stored in chests if you’re feeling brave.
Fighting the Bugs and the Queen
The Queen is protected by two types of bugs: the Swarmers and the Bombers. Swarmers are easy to kill but can overwhelm you if many attack at once. Use fast-firing or close-range weapons like an SMG or shotgun to quickly take them out. Bombers are tougher, larger bugs that can dig into the ground and appear unexpectedly around their nests, throwing goop and demanding that you stay mobile.
After eliminating the Swarmers and Bombers, the Queen will arrive. She is a huge, menacing worm capable of tunneling underground and spitting bug goop. She takes a lot of damage to defeat, so be prepared with heavy firepower. In solo matches, watch for other players who might be after her too.
While fighting the Queen, look out for the weak spot—her orange throat. When it’s exposed, focus your attacks there. Keep moving to avoid her underground burrows and prevent her from exploding out of the earth unexpectedly. Stay alert for her goop missiles and keep your health topped off at all times.
Mythic Loots and Medallions from the Bug Queen
Each of the three bug Queens drops a specific mythic weapon and a Medallion. If you’re aiming for certain gear or abilities, knowing where to land and which Queen to go after can give you an advantage.
| Location | Mythic Weapon | Medallion |
|---|---|---|
| The Hive | Mythic Enhanced Wrecker Revolver | Surge Medallion |
| Demon’s Debris | Mythic O.X.R. Assault Rifle | Springleg Medallion |
| Ranger’s Ruin | Mythic Sweeper Shotgun | Carapace Medallion |
Getting a Medallion makes you visible as a large yellow circle on the mini-map for all other players. The more Medallions you carry, the smaller your circle becomes.
Each Medallion grants a special bonus:
- Surge Medallion: Increases movement speed and sliding speed.
- Springleg Medallion: Provides a giant double jump with no fall damage.
- Carapace Medallion: Adds 50 extra health when you eliminate an enemy and passively boosts your shield by three until it hits 50.
Defeating the Queen, killing bugs, and destroying hive stashes all contribute to completing quests. These tasks reward XP and help unlock pages in your Battle Pass.
