Echo Farming in Wuthering Waves
Echo farming can be a demanding aspect of Wuthering Waves, especially when trying to acquire rare main stats like Energy Regeneration. Fortunately, with the release of update 2.3, the Modifier item was introduced, allowing for some customization of Echoes, reducing the randomness involved in farming.
However, don’t anticipate an abundance of Modifiers. Their high value makes them scarce and potentially monetizable. Even though they are rare, there are reliable ways to acquire them, and utilizing them is straightforward and beneficial.
How to Acquire Modifiers
Modifiers are closely linked to the monetization aspects of Wuthering Waves, but you can still obtain a few for free. Their descriptions indicate three different sources where you can gather Modifiers, each offering varying amounts.
Modifier Source | Cost | Amount | Free or Paid | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Store | 60 Oscillated Coral | 5 | Technically free, earned through gacha pulls. | The Oscillated Coral store offers five Modifiers per update cycle. You can accumulate Oscillated Coral without spending money, but purchasing more pulls grants more currency. |
Events | Event Progression | Variable | Free, if you participate in the event. | The only cost for event Modifiers is your time. Events are the best way to get Modifiers for free, but you need to be engaged during the award period. |
Pioneer Podcast | None | The free season pass provides six Modifiers, while the basic premium version grants 30 if you reach pass level 70. The most expensive pass gives an immediate ten bonus Modifiers. |
How to Use Modifiers
Modifiers allow you to change the main stat of any 5-star Echo. To modify an Echo, open the Data Bank menu and click the appropriate icon at the bottom left.
You can only apply Modifiers to unlocked, unleveled Echoes. If you have already invested experience items into an Echo, you will receive an error when attempting to use a Modifier on it. Select the Echo you wish to change and press the button with the plus sign to alter its main stat. The stats you can choose are determined by the Echo’s cost; for example, you can only assign rank four stats, such as Crit Rate and Healing Percentage, to rank four Echoes.
Modifiers do not bypass an Echo’s cost. Since you’re applying them to level-zero Echoes, there’s a chance the resulting sub-stat distribution may not be optimal.
Tips for Using Modifiers
It’s advisable to save your Modifiers for newly acquired characters and to prioritize applying them to rarer main stats like Energy Regeneration. You may need to try multiple times based on the results of your Echo Tuning.
Additionally, you can use Modifiers to create a collection of ideal main stat Echoes for future characters. Focusing on stacking Crit Rate and Energy Regeneration on four-cost Echoes is probably the best strategy since Crit Damage is often more prevalent on 5-star weapons.
