Malachy is a secretive trader you can encounter in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon. If you’re savvy enough to discover his questionable activities, you can work for him by searching for rare items.
Your first assignment is straightforward, although tracking down the Eye of a Marrowghast can be tricky if you don’t know where to look. While Marrowghasts appear randomly, we’ve pinpointed a few reliable spots to help you quickly gather what Malachy needs.
How to Start the Marrowghast Eye Quest for Malachy
After meeting Malachy at the Deserted Settlement and completing the Drowner Tongues task, he will send you on another item-gathering mission.
Talking to Malachy again after giving him the Drowner Tongues will initiate the Marrowghast Eye quest, which is less demanding in terms of how many items you need to find.
Unfortunately, Marrowghasts are harder to find than Drowners, who were relatively easy to track down along the coast.
However, there’s a simple way to boost your chances of encountering Marrowghasts.
Where to Find a Marrowghast Eye
One effective strategy is to wait until nightfall when Wyrdness covers the area, especially in Cuanacht or at the Forlorn Swords.
Horns of the South – Blood Cave
For early-game players, head to the Blood Cave. You’ll need to swim beneath Blood Lake to enter the cave, where you can battle your way to some Marrowghasts.
Cuanacht – Forest Gate
At the Forest Gate fast travel location in the southwestern Cuanacht region, you’ll encounter three predictable Marrowghast spawns.
You only need to bring back one eye for Malachy, so you should be able to find at least one between these two locations.
Once you’ve gathered enough Marrowghast Eyes, return to the Deserted Settlement in the Horns of the South to collect your reward from Malachy.
What Rewards Are Offered for the ‘Eye of Marrowghast for Malachy’ Quest?
When you return, mention your earlier business and hand over the Marrowghast Eye. In gratitude for your help, Malachy will reward you with the following:
- 1,500 XP
- 198 coins
- The Arcane Shepherd – a spell that fully heals your summons and boosts their damage by 50% for ten seconds.
After completing this task, Malachy will recognize your worth and offer one last quest: Fore-Dweller’s Finger for Malachy.
