Umamusume: Pretty Derby might look like a light-hearted racing game, but there’s a lot more beneath the surface. To effectively develop your characters, you need to grasp several important mechanics. Understanding each character’s strengths and abilities will help you enhance their key stats efficiently.
The Growth Rate is another critical aspect, as it allows for easier increases in certain stats for each character. By leveraging this, you can create a tailored character build that plays to their unique strengths. Additionally, it’s essential to focus on Inheritance, which can offer extra boosts to their stats.
Understanding Growth Rate
Every character in Umamusume: Pretty Derby has unique Growth Rates for specific stats. While training, you’ll receive bonuses that can help increase these stats more rapidly. This factor is key when shaping your character, so take the time to analyze each character’s attributes to target their vital stats.
Support cards can also provide additional bonuses for your characters’ stats.
What Are Aptitudes?
There are three main types of Aptitudes that significantly influence your strategy and character development in Umamusume: Track, Distance, and Style. These Aptitudes highlight where each character excels, allowing you to leverage their strengths for racing victories.
Track
Track Aptitudes are divided into two categories: Dirt and Turf. Depending on your character, they may perform better on one type of surface. Be cautious about choosing races that could hinder your character’s performance.
Distance
The Distance aptitude reflects how well your character can perform over various track lengths. Some characters excel in shorter races, while others can tackle longer distances, provided they have enough stamina.
Style
Style represents your primary strategy and is crucial for distinguishing characters. It directly influences which stats you should prioritize for your racer.
Here’s a quick overview of the different styles you can choose from:
Style | Explanation |
---|---|
Front | Your character will lead from the start. High stamina is needed to maintain this pace. |
Pace | You follow closely behind the front-runners and make a move when they tire. You’ll need good power and stamina for this approach. |
Late | Your racer stays behind to conserve energy, but requires strength to surge ahead when it counts. |
End | This is the most energy-efficient position, giving you an edge if others tire. A strong boost is necessary to take the lead. |
What Is Inheritance?
Umamusume: Pretty Derby includes a Legacy system that allows you to borrow stats from characters you’ve previously raced with in Career Mode. The stats you inherit are based on how well those characters performed during their careers.
You can select up to two legacies from your past racers. Remember, your choices will act like sub-legacies for your current character. While you can’t pick a legacy that’s the same as your character, you can gain extra stats from those that serve as sub-legacies for other racers. The compatibility of your legacies will be displayed after your selection, helping you choose wisely for maximum effectiveness. Aim to keep your Affinity within the compatible range to optimize performance.
