In The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake, there are numerous powerful weapons to discover. However, many of these weapons are either locked behind specific levels or depend on random chance. Some, like those awarded for completing quests, particularly Daedric quests, are guaranteed.
One of the top swords in the game is the Daedric weapon, Goldbrand. It not only has excellent base stats but also has a fire enchantment that enhances its effectiveness, making it ideal for melee characters. To obtain it, you just need to finish a Daedric quest.
Starting the Boethia Quest
The Boethia Daedric quest is known for its high difficulty level, requiring you to be at least level 20. You will also need to provide a Daedra heart as an offering to initiate communication with the Daedric Prince.
Obtaining a Daedra Heart
There are several methods to acquire Daedra hearts in the game; the simplest way is to defeat and loot Dremora or Xivilai, which are common foes found in Oblivion gates. Alternatively, if you prefer to avoid the gates, you can find a Daedra heart in a display case at the Anvil Fighter’s Guild Company Offices. You can also purchase them from alchemy shops in towns or Mages Guilds.
Locating the Shrine of Boethia
Boethia’s Shrine is situated in the mountains southeast of Cheydinhal, just to the west of the ‘M’ in ‘The Valous Mountains.’ You’ll need to climb up the mountains to reach the shrine.
Completing the Boethia Quest
Once you have everything you need, approach Boethia’s Shrine. She will instruct you to prove yourself as her chosen one. A portal will then appear nearby, transporting you to her realm in Oblivion.
Once you enter Oblivion, you will be trapped inside. Be prepared for combat with multiple foes, and make sure to bring potions and repair hammers for your gear.
Upon entering the Oblivion gate, you’ll find yourself on a circular island. Boethia will direct you to proceed through the gate on the right, where you’ll battle the chosen ones; there are nine of Boethia’s Chosen, representing each race except your own, as you are the champion.
Here’s what to expect from each of Boethia’s Chosen. They will all have leveled gear, meaning the quality of their equipment will depend on your level:

The battles are generally straightforward, with you facing off against each chosen one. Be cautious of their poison attacks, especially paralysis. If you want to manipulate their AI, you can lure them into lava areas where they will perish without affecting your quest progress.
Many of Boethia’s Chosen carry healing potions and will likely use them during fights. Bring your own potions as well. They also have illness potions that damage health, so keep an eye on your health bar.
Obtaining Goldbrand
After you defeat all of Boethia’s Chosen, a portal will appear at the starting point, sending you back to the mortal realm. Once you return to the shrine, interact with it again to complete the Boethia quest.
Boethia will reward you with Goldbrand, a one-handed katana that inflicts 22 points of fire damage on hit. This weapon is perfect for melee characters, as it’s fast and its fire damage accumulates quickly.
