As you embark on your journey in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, the myriad choices can feel a bit daunting as you take on the role of a versatile time-traveling hero. While the game offers a variety of tutorials that help explain the different systems, there’s a ton to explore, and you’ll need to dive in yourself to truly grasp everything.

Having invested many hours in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, we’re excited to share some insights that we wish we had at the start of our adventure.

Embrace a Gathering Life…

Gathering Lives are among the best options in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time. You’ll find gathering nodes—such as trees, rocks, and fish—scattered throughout most areas outside of towns. Furthermore, you’ll need various materials for other lives as well.

For this reason, we highly recommend picking a Gathering Life early in your adventure.

Ultimately, the decision is yours, but we started with Woodcutter, which allowed us to make good money from items like Elder Pine Logs right off the bat.

…But Don’t Forget About a Combat Life

That said, it’s crucial to choose a Combat Life as well. Even if you decide not to engage in Gathering or Crafting at first, having combat skills is essential.

Combat is a must in Fantasy Life i, and you’ll face numerous scripted encounters, along with some boss battles later in the game.

While you could fight in your Brand New Life, the disadvantages make it one of your worst options. You’ll lack skills and weapon specialties; avoid this route!

Talk to the Towers

The towers in Fantasy Life i are more than just landmarks; they are interactive characters. The vast world of Ginormosia is dotted with towers that help unveil different parts of the map. Unlike typical open-world games, these towers converse with you.

Engage with the towers frequently using the ‘Talk’ function to gather tips on shrine locations and other helpful hints. Plus, you need to chat with them to raise the enemy level in a zone.

Increase Enemy Levels When Ready

Area Rank for the South Greatgut Plains in Fantasy Life i

As you complete tasks, you’ll earn points that allow you to raise the enemy ranks in each area. By doing so, you’ll reap greater rewards, including:

  • Lumber
  • Fish
  • Ore
  • Vegetables
  • Treasure

While the risks might be worth it, keep in mind that many enemies will attack you on sight. You’ve got to either be stealthy or prepared to face multiple defeats while maximizing each area’s benefits.

Thus, always monitor your Combat Life level before upping the Area Rank. Remember, your Gathering Life levels also need to be sufficient to make the most of these resources.

Don’t Forget to Climb

The game introduces the climbing mechanic early on, but its importance may not be evident right away. You might go a while without realizing you can climb ledges marked with the “look” prompt, no matter how high they are.

Climbing is crucial for reaching the highest points in Ginormosia. The sooner you embrace this skill, the more opportunities you’ll have!

Explore Caves, Even If You Aren’t a Miner

Great Copper Deposits in Fantasy Life i.

Caves are mainly sources of ore, which might lead you to overlook them at first if you’re not focused on the Miner Life. However, these caverns often hide treasure chests and valuable gathering items like mushrooms and shells.

The general rule of thumb: always enter any cave you find while exploring.

Progress Through the First Three Chapters Quick

Many systems within Fantasy Life i become available only after completing the first three chapters. It’s only then that you’ll genuinely explore various mechanics, like time travel and building your own town.

We can’t emphasize enough how much more awaits you once these initial chapters are completed.

Additionally, you’ll face strict caps on enemy levels, gathering nodes, and Life Quests that you can complete if you limit yourself to the early game stages.

While it’s important to elevate your Combat Life level and engage in some gathering, pushing through those first three chapters is vital to unlocking the game’s true potential.

Multiplayer Mode Won’t Be Available at First

Lastly, it’s worth noting that multiplayer options unlock only after you start building your town in late Chapter 3. If you’re eager to team up with friends who have also bought Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, you’ll need to make it through several hours of gameplay first!

This adds further incentive to clear those early chapters, as your co-op gameplay can only commence once you’ve grasped the basics.

Remember, you can’t tackle story quests in multiplayer mode, nor can you take Phantoms beyond Ginormosia. These quests are meant to be a solo experience to maintain gameplay balance.
