The races in Umamusume: Pretty Derby can be quite thrilling, and your racers’ stats are crucial to their performance. To secure victory, you’ll need to carefully manage these stats so your trainees can shine.
Speed is essential in races since the ultimate goal is to be the fastest. However, it’s not just about sheer speed; you must also consider various other elements. Activating your Umamusume’s skills involves using Wit, so keep that in mind when you need an edge in the competition.
What Does Each Stat Do?
Umamusume: Pretty Derby features five key stats that contribute to your racers’ performance. The race outcome depends on all of them, so it’s essential to balance each stat.
- Speed
- Stamina
- Power
- Guts
- Wit
Speed
Speed is the most critical factor in a racing game, as it dictates how fast your Umamusume can move. Without ample speed, you risk falling behind, so it should be your top priority.
However, the dynamics of the game’s stats are intricate, and to keep your speed at its peak, you’ll depend on other stats as well.
Stamina
Running takes a considerable amount of stamina, and you certainly don’t want to burn out before crossing the finish line.
Low stamina negatively affects your ability to maintain speed, so even if you’re in the lead, running out of stamina can cause you to lose your position quickly. Therefore, after speed, stamina should be your second focus.
Power
As the term suggests, power reflects the physical strength of your Umamusume. It’s critical not to confuse it with stamina; power can negatively impact your stamina as well. However, it allows your Umamusume to reach maximum speed faster.
Your racer might be hitting top speeds, but without the power to support it, this may not last long. While power should be your third priority, always ensure you have enough stamina to sustain it.
Guts
The final stretch of a race is often critical, but it’s not uncommon to find yourself low on stamina during this crucial phase.
To keep your momentum going, putting some emphasis on Guts can be beneficial. While it’s not essential, if you have a well-balanced strategy with the other stats, you might not need much focus on Guts, making it the least of your concerns.
Wit
Wit plays a vital role in improving the likelihood of your Umamusume activating a skill, which can be a game-changer during a race. While it may not seem crucial if you believe your speed, power, and stamina will carry you through, it can compensate for weaknesses in other areas.
Additionally, Wit helps reduce the chance that your Umamusume will be affected by the Rushed state, which causes them to expend stamina unnecessarily while sprinting when it’s not required.
