Dune: Awakening is primarily designed as a multiplayer experience, encouraging players to team up and cooperate effectively. However, if you prefer to go solo, there are strategies to help you thrive alone.
While you may encounter challenges in certain areas, there are shortcuts and tactics to enhance your solo gameplay experience. If you’re new to Dune: Awakening and want to enjoy it solo, here’s what to keep in mind.
Should You Play Solo?
Before diving into Dune: Awakening, ask yourself if solo play is right for you. Playing with a guild can enhance the experience by sharing resources and completing quests together.
If you decide to pursue a solo adventure, consider these points:
- Sub-Fief Limits: Playing alone restricts you to three sub-fiefs, so keep that in mind.
- Resource Gathering: Expect resource collection to take a lot longer without teammates.
- Solo Quests: You’ll handle all quests by yourself when playing solo.
- Skill Diversity: Relying solely on yourself means you need a varied skill tree and class build for combat.
If the thought of a solo journey excites you, keep the above in mind. Playing alone can be a rewarding challenge.
Note:
You’re not locked into solo play; you can team up with others later if you change your mind.
What Class Should You Play Solo?
In Dune: Awakening, there are four main classes to choose from:
- Bene Gesserit
- Swordsman
- Trooper
- Mentat
While all classes can work solo, two stand out for solo players:
Starting Solo Class | Why You Should Play |
---|---|
Trooper | Starting as a Trooper enhances your gunplay skills, which are essential early on. Plus, it allows you to bypass specific quests, saving you time. Troopers also have strong mobility skills. |
Bene Gesserit | This class excels in crowd control and has abilities that facilitate quick travel. Finding the Bene Gesserit trainer can be time-consuming if you don’t choose this class. |
Completing The Tutorial Solo
To begin your solo journey, you’ll want to get through the tutorial quickly. Here are steps to help you finish effectively:
Tutorial Step | Details |
---|---|
Construct A Central Sub-Fief | Place your sub-fief centrally to minimize travel time, ideally near the Wreck of the Alcyon. |
Don’t Get Distracted | Focus on the tutorial missions from Zantara to speed up your progression. |
Gather Resources | Collect resources while working on main tutorial missions to save time later. |
Your aim in the tutorial is to construct a sandbike to access the wider game world. Focus on gathering:
- Copper
- Particle Capacitors
- Advanced Servoks
The more resources you collect early on, the quicker you can complete the mission.
Tip:
Completing contracts will earn you Solaris, which can be used to buy vital items like Particle Capacitors.
How To Play Solo
Once you leave the tutorial area, your adventure starts. Although you can explore freely, it’s wise to focus on key gameplay elements:
Create Two Advanced Sub-Fiefs
As soon as possible, establish two advanced sub-fiefs at a distance. This will help you:
- Reduce travel time
- Increase storage capacity
- Refine resources more efficiently
While it’s easier with a guild, managing resources will be on your shoulders as a solo player, making extra sub-fiefs beneficial.
Focused Resource Harvesting
Stay concentrated on gathering one type of resource at a time. Specific map areas are rich in individual resources, so plan your expeditions around what you need and carry minimal equipment.
Completing Quests Solo
While joining guilds can ease quest completion, here’s how to prioritize when going solo:
- Trainer Quests: Seek these out to diversify your skills effectively.
- Solaris-Based Contracts: Complete contracts whenever possible to keep your finances healthy, especially important for taxes.
- Find the Fremen: Rapidly completing the Trials of Aql provides useful resources like the Stilltent.
Diversify Your Skill Tree
Find trainers for each class to broaden your skills. Since you’ll be solo, having a diverse skill set will help you tackle various quests and challenges.
Focusing on these aspects will make your solo experience in Dune: Awakening more rewarding. Remember, it’s perfectly okay to seek help from guilds occasionally, but embracing the solo journey can present a unique challenge!
