Death Stranding 2: On the Beach gives you various options for getting around and delivering important cargo. While walking is the most basic method, you can also use vehicles, ziplines, monorails, hoverboards, and fast travel with the DHV Magellan.
So, what’s the best way to navigate this world? Although Death Stranding 2’s map makes it easy to drive a trike or truck, some players choose not to use vehicles. Hardcore porters like to carry everything on their backs and traverse the land on foot, while others enjoy taking advantage of every tool available to them.
What’s The Best Way To Travel In Death Stranding 2?
While some believe that fast traveling in open-world games takes away from exploration, many prefer completing quests quickly. When MadHanini asked on Reddit if they were playing the game the right way by driving everywhere, opinions were mixed on the correct approach to Death Stranding 2.
“Am I playing wrong?” they asked. “I only travel by car. I’ve never used a zipline, never skated, never used a tractor, and rarely walk. All I do is drive.” Personally, I like to use trucks too, especially after getting the grappling hook that helps pull in stray cargo. My character doesn’t touch the ground unless delivering items to a terminal.
Although many players prefer the same style as MadHanini and me, a significant number enjoy walking. One player commented, “I noticed that walking seems to be the main gameplay style. When I took a cruiser and music started playing while the camera zoomed out towards the objective, it felt like I was doing it ‘wrong’ according to Kojima’s vision.”
Another player mentioned, “I usually drive, but I do walk during main missions because I love the atmosphere. You miss many intense moments if you just drive.” Despite this, it’s important to remember that having tools doesn’t mean you have to use them.
A top comment captured a good point: “There’s no right way to play. The question is, are you playing in a way that works for you?” So if walking feels better for you, go for it. If you prefer zooming around in a truck, that’s fine too. Hideo Kojima isn’t judging you.
