In Date Everything, each character, known as a Dateable, can lead you to one of three potential endings. If you pay close attention to the characters, you might achieve all the endings you desire. However, it’s important to remember that everyone slips up in conversations sometimes—it’s completely normal.
A misstep in dialogue could lead to a character harboring dislike towards you, which is not ideal, especially when you’re hoping for their affection. Fortunately, this isn’t a permanent situation. Using candies can help warm up your relationship with these characters.
What Are Candies For?
Candies are uncommon items in the game, and they’re not even mentioned until you stumble upon one. Once you acquire a Candy, you might not immediately understand how to use it. If you’re fortunate and the characters like you, these items may seem unnecessary. But if a character dislikes you, that’s when candies come into play.
If a character really hates you, that feeling typically sticks unless certain rare circumstances arise. In most instances, your only recourse is to use Candies. When interacting with a character that dislikes you, you can choose to use a Candy to try and repair your relationship.
This transforms a Hate ending into a Friends ending. While you usually can’t convert this into a Love ending, it can still improve the situation. For example, some polyamorous relationships might become easier to navigate, and your ending could turn out to be more favorable.
Keep in mind, though, you can’t just use any Candy on any character. Each Candy correlates with specific SPECS stats, meaning only certain Candies can be used with particular Dateables. For instance, Nightmare is an Empathy character, so you can only mend your Hate ending with them using an Empathy Candy.
How Do You Get Candies?
Candies are rare treasures that no one really discusses until one is literally handed to you. You receive these Candies from Keith, a somewhat hidden character, who is essentially a Skeleton Key located in a secret part of the house, specifically in the crawlspace.
Once you find Keith, you can chat with him anytime. He’s particularly focused on discussing SPECS points. If you hit certain thresholds, about 50 points in the respective SPECS, he will offer you a Candy for that stat. In fact, if you meet the criteria for all stats, he will give you one of each Candy at once.
Can You Get More Than One of Each Candy?
After receiving a Candy, it gets recorded on your SPECS sheet, displayed next to the relevant stat. If you don’t have a Candy, its shape will appear but will be greyed out. As you can see, there’s only one space for each Candy. Does that mean you can only have one of each?
Yes, it does. You’re limited to just one of each Candy at a time, and you can only obtain one of each Candy total. Once you possess all of them, Keith will inform you that he has no more Candies to provide. This means that once you get a Candy, you should use it thoughtfully, but don’t hesitate to use it when necessary.
