Shinobi: Art of Vengeance features many secrets, collectibles, and mysteries to discover. Among the most difficult tasks is locating all the Ankou Rifts, but the game’s toughest challenge is finding the Lab Keys.
Lab Keys are some of the rarest collectibles in the game because there are only six of them, and some aren’t even marked as secrets within the levels. To collect all of them, you’ll need to fully complete the game, making it a big challenge. Once you gather all six, you unlock a secret boss fight against a classic Shinobi villain. I’ll explain how to find each key first.
Lab Keys, Explained
Lab Keys are mysterious items without clear hints about their purpose. They don’t seem connected to anything obvious, and the game doesn’t give clues on what they unlock directly. Here’s what you need to know about finding them:

Lab Key 1
The first Lab Key is found in the Fish Market level inside a secret chest. To reach it, go to the indicated area. Use some clever platforming with moving crates to access the small cavity where the key lies. It’s fairly straightforward and a good way to start your collection.

Lab Key 2
Next, head to The Mountain level. This key is awarded after defeating all three groups of the Elite Squad in that level. Clearing these enemies unlocks the key in the level.

Lab Key 3
In ENE Corp Laboratory, you must defeat its final boss to find this key. Afterward, go to the East Lab and take the first lift up. Proceed right until you find a vent; go up it and then left. You’ll face tough challenges with deadly plants and monsters before reaching a chest holding the key.

Lab Key 4
This key is in The Assault stage. To find it, start from the Throne Room checkpoint. Head left and find a gap to roll under. Go down and right, then tackle a platforming section with tricky jumps. The key is in a chest at the end.

Lab Key 5
The final key in normal levels is earned by defeating Lord Ruse, the last boss. In Ruse’s Limbo stage, you face a tough two-part fight. Once victorious, the key unlocks after the credits, serving as a reward for your effort.

Lab Key 6
The last secret key requires collecting all 55 Oboro Relics and giving them to the shopkeeper. This unlocks the final set of purchasable items. You must then pay the 10,000 gold needed — which you should have accumulated by late in the game — to buy it and claim this ultimate prize.

How To Find The Secret Lab
Once you have all six Lab Keys, you might wonder what to do with them since there’s no guidance from the game. The key is to go to the ENE Corp Laboratory level. Start at the Containment Room checkpoint, marked by purple and gold. Interact with the machine in the room to insert the keys.
This grants access to a hidden room and a boss battle against none other than Shadow Master, the main villain from Shinobi 3. Defeating him is extremely challenging, requiring mastery of your Ninpo, Dark Katana, and other abilities.

After triumphing over Shadow Master, you earn the Revenge of the Ninja Master trophy and unlock a golden Shinobi costume, celebrating your victory.
