Lies Of P: Overture introduces a fresh batch of content to the popular Soulslike game, including not just new bosses but also two exciting new Legion Arms. Both of these new arms offer unique gameplay options and are among the best in the game.
This guide will detail the Legion Arms available, how to unlock them, and their individual upgrades. Here’s a complete rundown on the new Legion Arms featured in Lies Of P: Overture.
How to Acquire the Genius’s Legion Plugs
In total, there are two Legion Arms to find, which means you’ll need to track down both Genius’s Legion Plugs. The first Plug is only missable if you skip a midboss fight. Defeat the second elephant in the Krat Zoo area—the one that transforms mid-battle—and you’ll receive it. You’ll face this foe right after activating the Jungle Zone Walkway Stargazer.
The second Genius’s Legion Plug is a bit trickier to get. After defeating the Two-Faced Overseer boss, the next Stargazer you’ll see is at the Ergo Mining Site Stargazer. From there, turn right and keep going until you find a boardwalk that wraps around the arena. You’ll need to battle a few robots along the way.
Continue down this path until you reach a pool of water. There, in the corner, you’ll find a safe containing the Genius Cylinder. However, be prepared for a tough mining robot that will emerge from the wall to confront you.
Before you venture too far into this area, it’s wise to unlock the shortcut on the left side of the room. This will make it easier to return if you die.
Upgrading the New Legion Arms
To unlock the Cataclysm and Icarus Legion Arms, you’ll need the special Genius’s Legion Plug, but their upgrades require the same materials as your other Legion Arms. This means you can simply speak to the golden coin tree to reset one of your existing Legion Arms and gather the necessary materials to upgrade these new arms to their full potential.
The Icarus Legion Arm
Next, let’s dive into the specifics of the Icarus Legion Arm. Even at a basic level, Icarus is fantastic for taking on groups of enemies or large targets with its wide hitbox. Once upgraded, granting you the ability to throw two blades simultaneously, it becomes incredibly effective—ready to clear out swarms or deal with larger bosses.
The final upgrade, which allows you to scatter four blades in all directions, may not feel as impactful. While it does spread damage out, that potency pales in comparison to targeting a single enemy with two blades. Icarus works remarkably well with spear weapons, as you can keep enemies in range of the blades even if they attempt to evade.
The Cataclysm Legion Arm
On the other hand, the Cataclysm Legion Arm operates like a powerful shotgun. Even without any upgrades, it can significantly disrupt enemy attacks. With enhancements, you can substantially increase the damage output, especially by using it to interrupt an enemy’s offensive move.
Timing your shot correctly to achieve a "perfect reload" adds even more damage on top of that. All the upgrades stack, too, meaning if you execute a perfectly timed shot during a counter, the resulting damage can be truly massive—even close to a quarter of a boss’s health bar.
Which Legion Arm Should You Upgrade First?
Both Legion Arms are strong choices. Early in the game, I found myself favoring the Cataclysm because of its high damage output. However, many early bosses are large, making the Icarus Legion Arm particularly effective against them.
Your build will also play a role in your choice. Icarus balances well with both Motivity and Technique, while Cataclysm leans more heavily into Motivity, making it a superior option depending on your play style.
Ultimately, choose the arm that best fits your strategies and strengths as you progress through the game.
