Starsand Island offers a chance to revisit your childhood and start anew with friends you haven’t seen in years. Life here moves slowly and peacefully, giving you time to enjoy festivals and hobbies you normally wouldn’t have time for.
Farming is a rewarding skill to learn while settling on the island. We’ll guide you through the basics of farming, including where to find seeds and how to plan for upcoming seasons.
How to Unlock Farming
To start farming, you need to unlock the skill. This is done by talking to Graminova, who is a mentor for farmers. You can find him working on his fields in town, near the clothing shop.
During the tutorial, you’ll receive blueprints for essential tools like a hoe and a watering can. Take a moment to craft these tools, which will help you till soil and water your crops.
Weeding can be a problem, but you can speak with Pastelle about raising rabbits to naturally control weeds.
Where to Get Seeds
Graminova will open the Happiness Seed Shop as you work with him, allowing you to buy seeds any time of year. The good news is that seed packets are available regardless of the season, so you can buy and store them ahead of planting time.
However, crops only grow during specific seasons, and some crops need special structures like Paddy Fields or Trellises to grow correctly. As you complete tasks and trials with Graminova, you’ll unlock more types of seeds.

Some crops, like watermelons and pumpkins, can grow into giant crops if planted in a 3×3 patch. You can also upgrade your watering can and hoe by buying blueprints in the seed shop. Fertilizer is available from Graminova, making him your go-to for everything farming-related.
You might also find wild seeds while exploring, which can be planted to harvest native plants and flowers.
