The Load Enhancements feature in Digimon Story Time Stranger is one of the main methods to upgrade your digital creatures. It might seem a little strange when you think about it, but feeding a Digimon the data of another Digimon helps strengthen the one receiving it.
Sometimes, the results are impressive. They can save you a lot of grinding time and grant special bonuses. However, it’s important to be cautious, as there are moments when using this feature isn’t the best choice. Let’s explore how it works.
How Load Enhancement Works
The process is straightforward. Once the Load Enhancement option is available—which happens fairly early—start by opening the menu. You’ll see a screen similar to the ‘Setup’ menu, but this time, you’re not equipping your Digimon. Instead, your goal is to select which Digimon you want to strengthen and then choose the one you wish to sacrifice for that purpose. On the right side of the screen, you’ll see the level and stat boosts the recipient Digimon will receive.
On PlayStation, press the square button if you’re satisfied with the potential boost. On other platforms, use the corresponding button. Confirm the warning, and the second Digimon you selected will effectively be removed from your roster.
Keep in mind, it’s usually easy to find more of the Digimon you sacrifice, especially if they are common species like Numamon or basic Rookie-level Digimon. But be more careful when sacrificing rare or difficult-to-obtain species, as their stat boosts are likely to be significant.
When to Use Load Enhancement
This feature is particularly useful when you want to level up your Digimon quickly. For example, one recent case saw DemiDevimon’s level jump from 4 to 27 in a single move.
The Digimon being converted is often easy to replace through scanning or known Digivolution routes, meaning you don’t risk losing a rare or valuable Digimon permanently. To decide whether to use Load Enhancement, ask yourself these three questions:
1. Is there enough benefit to justify it?
2. Will I easily be able to get the sacrificed Digimon back later?
3. Will my current team suffer significant weakness during its absence?
The best approach is to answer “yes” to the first two questions and “no” to the third. Avoid sacrificing especially rare Digimon unless you’re comfortable losing them temporarily, as their boosted stats are usually worth more than their temporary absence.
Why Load Enhancement Is Especially Handy
One of the big advantages is that you can quickly level up your Digimon if you’ve previously Digivolved and then De-Digivolved them. This process resets their level to 1, but continually doing it offers many benefits.
When a Digimon is de-Digivolved, it retains some of its previous stat gains. As your overall Talent level increases over time, so do level caps and potential benefits. You can repeat this process up to 100 times for each Digimon to maximize its strength.
For example, the DemiDevimon we mentioned earlier went from level 4 to 27. It had already Digivolved into an Ogremon after some hours of gameplay, making it unrealistic to achieve such a high level through fighting or training alone. Sacrificing a Digimon that was just taking up space in your box made sense, as it allowed DemiDevimon to reach powerful levels quickly.
Load Enhancement offers a fast track for evolving and strengthening your team, especially for high-level goals. It’s a valuable tool for optimizing your Digimon roster efficiently.
