StarRupture is a sci-fi survival game where players explore an alien planet filled with dangerous creatures, rough terrain, and environmental hazards that can quickly end your journey before it even begins. As you explore, you’ll find new resources and also come across strange stones that you cannot interact with.
Monoliths are tall, obelisk-shaped structures surrounded by small floating rocks. You won’t be able to attack or mine these pillars, but you’ll see many of them scattered across Arcadia-7. They are located throughout the main area and extend beyond the radiation ring around the central zone, though many are not accessible in early access. Future updates are expected to reveal more of these structures. Monoliths appear randomly and are found pretty much everywhere, especially near rich ore deposits, meteorites, and rocky mountain terrain. There are about 35 monoliths in the main area and the surrounding outer zone before entering the heavily radiated core.
Even after a rupture, monoliths continue to emit radiation. They do not provide resources or information directly, and setting up a base nearby doesn’t offer specific advantages. However, it’s smart to keep an eye on the closest monolith as you upgrade your Base Core because they act as points for enemy spawning.
To use a monolith, you must upgrade your Base Core at key locations, which will set the structure to act as a kind of enemy spawn point. Once upgraded, a large group of enemies will spawn at the monolith, with hundreds of different types arriving in waves. The game will alert you with an AI voiceover if activity increases, and you can monitor how intense the invasion is through a meter on the right side of your screen. Once the enemy waves subside, you’ll know the threat has passed.
Upgrading your Base Core requires various resources, and each upgrade triggers a significant enemy invasion. It’s highly recommended to build defenses before upgrading to protect your equipment, especially if you’re playing alone. Building defenses helps prevent enemy waves from damaging your base during these intense attacks.
