Complete the My Room Puzzle: All Crest Location Solutions

Shimizu Hinako’s house isn’t a safe place in Silent Hill f. In the second half of the game, returning home creates one of the trickiest puzzles. To open a locked door, you need three crests, but getting these crests involves several steps that aren’t obvious at first.

Note: The tips below are for the “Hard” difficulty setting in Silent Hill f. If you’re on the “Lost in the Fog” setting, the situation may be different.

To solve this puzzle, you’ll have to explore three different versions of Hinako’s house. Before you can open the door, you need to solve smaller puzzles in each version. Once you gather all three crests, you must also position them correctly—a process that’s a bit more complicated than it appears.

All Crest Locations in Hinako’s House

The map above shows the layout of Hinako’s house, including passable doors and notable areas. The crest puzzle is near a shrine where you can save your game or pick up new charms. To start, head to the end of the long corridor on the right side of the map.

First Crest Location

On the right side of the corridor, there’s a calendar with a big number 6 on it. Take the calendar, then go back to the crest puzzle and interact with the wall nearby. Hang up the calendar, which will unlock the adjacent door. This takes you to the second version of Hinako’s house, called Shimizu Residence II.

Enter the room shown in the second picture and watch a scene of Hinako with her parents. You’ll find another calendar here. In the next room, where Hinako is with her parents again, you’ll see a set of scales with small wooden figures. Place the headless figure on the left side and the others on the right to balance the scales and earn your first crest.

Second Crest Location

Move to the far right of Shimizu Residence II to pick up a picture frame in the room visible on the map. You’ll need this later. Then, head to the third version of the house, Shimizu Residence III. Place the calendar marked “26” on the same wall spot to access this version.

Go straight down the hall into Hinako’s room. Check the bookshelf, find the blood-stained book at the bottom, and inside her diary, you’ll find melted wax. You’ll need this later. Also, pick up a propane tank from the bottom left room on the map.

Return to the first house to find the other two crests. In the central room, hang the painting of Hinako upside down. The other paintings should stay right side up. This will cause a group portrait to fall, revealing the third crest.

Third Crest Location

Head to the southwest room, the same one where you found the propane tank. Use the propane and wax to melt the wax and reveal the Fletching Key. Use this key on the door marked with a bird symbol in Shimizu Residence III to see a scene of the Shimizu family once again. Collect the final crest sitting on the table nearby.

Now, return to the crest door in Shimizu Residence I.

How to Solve the Crest Puzzle (My Room)

The clue for the crest door shows a scene of the Sword and Fox fighting on a set of scales that are eventually destroyed as the heavens shake. The sun rises behind the fox and sets behind the sword.

Follow these steps:

  • Keep the sky symbol where it is.
  • Place the sword on the left (since the sun sets in the west).
  • Place the fox on the right.
  • Lower the scales and then flip them, showing they’re destroyed.

Once you do this, the crest door will slide open. Inside, you’ll find the Pine Tree emblem. This key unlocks another door in Hinako’s house, bringing you closer to moving past the corridors of the Shimizu Residence and progressing in Silent Hill f.
