Now that Pokémon Z-A is out, we’ve had a chance to try it firsthand. Your trainer stays at Hotel Z in Lumiose City, which serves as your hub for tackling various missions and incidents as a member of Team MZ — protectors of the city.
During the day, explore “wild zones,” catch wild Pokémon, and battle other trainers. When night falls, you’ll engage in the new “Z-A Royale” system, where you work your way up through ranks to advance the story.
Lumiose City is packed with side quests, research tasks with scientist Mable, and detective missions with Emma, a familiar character from X and Y. The city also offers plenty of customization options, including Pokémon grooming and relaxing spots.
One of the biggest changes is in battle style. Instead of turn-based combat, battles now happen in real-time.
