In Avowed, one of the collectibles you can find scattered throughout the Living Lands is Strangled Adra. Interacting with these unique structures not only rewards you with a significant amount of experience points (XP) but is also necessary to achieve the “Pillars of Eternity” milestone. While many collectibles are quite noticeable, it’s easy to overlook some of the Strangled Adra due to their often hidden locations. However, exploring off the beaten path can significantly speed up your leveling process.
Finding Strangled Adra Across the Map
You will find one Strangled Adra in each major map area of Avowed. In contrast to other collectibles such as Starmetal or Sapadal’s Ancient Memories, there are no side quests linked to these Strangled Adra, which means you may have to search for them independently without any directions from the game. Fortunately, these collectibles are easy to spot on the map as they tend to be accompanied by smaller Adra pillars, making it easier for you to discover them during your exploration.
Where to Find Strangled Adra in Dawnshore
Locating the Strangled Adra Near the Emerald Stair Gate
The Strangled Adra in Dawnshore is reasonably simple to find, but reaching it can be a bit tricky. It is located on a ledge adjacent to the Emerald Stair Gatehouse. You can either journey there from another region or fast travel to the nearby Beacon if you’ve discovered it previously. If not, head directly east from the Militia Barracks to the far southeast corner of the mainland.
Upon arriving, you will see some Adra protruding from a rock formation along with a circular stone tunnel to your left. Enter the tunnel and use fire to clear away the vines that block your path upward. If you’re not playing as a Wizard in Avowed, it’s a good idea to bring Kai along, as there are numerous vines that need clearing, which could save your throwable items for combat.
Follow the path through the ruins, burning any roots that obstruct your progress. When you reach doors that need electricity to open, pull the lever in the center of the room. Provided you’ve cleared all the vines in each chamber, this lever will release electricity to activate the doors.
Tip: In the final room, I used a grenade to blow up a wall and reveal one of the switches, so make sure you have one handy!
Once you open the last door, you’ll find the Strangled Adra right in front of you. Although this one is somewhat challenging to reach, fortunately, the others are generally easier to access. However, some may still require a specific companion or item for you to access them.
Where to Find Strangled Adra in Emerald Stair
Finding the Strangled Adra North of Tama’s Cabin
The Strangled Adra in Emerald Stair is located in The Wildwoods, just east of The Delemgan Glade. If you have accepted Kai’s companion quest to visit Tama’s Cabin, you’ll find the Strangled Adra just north of the cabin, which makes it easier to locate by using the quest marker. Alternatively, you can find the Rock Arch Beacon and head north from there. If you’ve already discovered the Beacon but not the Adra yet, simply fast travel back to it and head slightly northeast.
As you walk northward, look for smaller Adra pillars emerging from the ground leading you toward a ridge beside the towering cliff enclosing The Delemgan Glade. Follow the path of Adra upward and scale the rocky formations ahead. You’ll discover the Strangled Adra at the peak of the small formation. This is one of the easier locations to reach, thanks to its proximity to a Beacon and the straightforward path leading up to it.
Where to Find Strangled Adra in Shatterscarp
East of the Thirdborn Camp in Shatterscarp
To track down the Strangled Adra in Shatterscarp, head to the campsite by the Thirdborn and move directly east. As you venture in that direction, you will come upon a stone archway and a few gleaming Adra in the distance. Follow the Adra to reach the strangled pillar situated on a ledge above. Pass under another stone archway and you’ll come across some climbable rocks leading you to the same level as the Adra.
From the side opposite the stone archway, you’ll discover roots across your path. Utilize Kai’s ability or fire to clear these roots to reach the Strangled Adra. Alternatively, you can scale around the other side of the stone arch and leap across a gap to access it. Either method works, but clearing the roots tends to be a simpler option without the risk of a missed jump.
Where to Find Strangled Adra in Galawain’s Tusks
East of the Region’s First Camp in Galawain’s Tusks
To quickly reach the Strangled Adra in Galawain’s Tusks, fast-travel to the campsite located just north of the region’s entrance. If you’re new to this region, travel a short distance northeast to find this campsite. From here, you’ll continue eastward, where you should spot Solace Keep in the distance to your left. Shortly after, you will start seeing a path of smaller Adra pillars that lead the way.
Follow these Adra pillars to discover the Strangled Adra on a small ledge ahead. This is another straightforward collection, similar to the Emerald Stair Strangled Adra. Simply navigate directly toward the Strangled Adra by utilizing the rocks on the right, and you will arrive there. This is likely the easiest Strangled Adra to access, although finding it initially might be a bit challenging since it’s not located near any quest markers in the game. But now that you have its map location, it should be easy to find.
