In Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s DLC Mega Dimension, Hyperspace Lumiose isn’t a place you stumble into without preparation. The game gets tougher with stronger Pokémon and more variables, so success often depends on what you bring along before entering. That’s where Donuts from Ansha’s Donuts come into play.
These seemingly simple treats secretly affect how long you can explore and what hidden bonuses you unlock. From increasing shiny odds to item drops, Donuts influence many aspects of your run, even beyond what the game explicitly states. This guide explains how Donuts work, what each flavor emphasizes, and how to make smarter choices with every recipe you create.
How to Get Donuts
To access Hyperspace Lumiose, you need to progress enough in the Mega Dimension story to unlock the DLC and complete the initial Hoopa quest. After that, Hoopa will need a Donut to open a portal. Once Hoopa eats it, a distortion appears, letting you enter the warped version of Lumiose City called Hyperspace Lumiose.
Donuts are made in the lobby of Hotel Z, located in the bottom center of the map. As you advance through the story, Ansha sets up a shop there where you can combine berries into Donuts. At first, you can only use three berries per Donut, but as you find better butter through your story progress, that limit increases to up to eight berries, enabling more advanced Donuts later in the game.
What Do the Different Donut Stats Mean?
Every berry used in a Donut contributes to stats like Star Level, Calories, and Level Boost.
- Star Level multiplies all other stats and raises the chance of getting a Flavor Power. You can only reach Star Level One or higher with Hyper Berries, which are mainly found in Hyperspace Lumiose.
- Calories determine how long you can stay inside Hyperspace Lumiose.
- Level Boost temporarily raises your Pokémon’s level during that run, making it easier to defeat tougher zones and earn better rewards.
These values directly impact the effectiveness of your run: longer stays and higher Pokémon levels allow you to challenge stronger areas and gather better loot.
What Are the Flavor Types?
Flavor Types decide which Flavor Powers your Donuts can generate while you’re in Hyperspace Lumiose. Each Donut has a dominant flavor based on the berries used, influencing the pool of bonuses the game can offer.
While these Powers are partly random, aligning your berries with a specific flavor increases your chances of getting the bonuses you want. The five main flavors are: Bitter, Fresh, Sour, Spicy, and Sweet, each focusing on different gameplay aspects.
What Is Each Flavor’s Power?
| Flavor | Primary Powers |
|---|---|
| Bitter | Defense Power, Special Defense Power, Resistance Power |
| Fresh | Encounter Power, Catching Power |
| Sour | Big Haul Power, Item Power, Mega Power Charging, Mega Power Conservation |
| Spicy | Attack Power, Special Attack Power, Move Power, Speed Power |
| Sweet | Alpha Power, Sparkling Power, Humungo Power, Teensy Power |
Power levels can be Level One, Two, or Three, with Level Three offering the most benefits. Using berries aligned with a specific flavor makes it much more likely to receive these bonus powers consistently.
