In Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive, you can customize Sun Jinwoo’s gameplay by selecting one of four classes that fit your preferred fighting style. Each class features between 19 and 20 unlockable skills on its Skill Tree, designed to improve your combat abilities and tailor your experience.
When you start building Jinwoo, you’ll briefly play before being prompted to choose a class for that run. Your choice determines your combat approach, focusing on which skills you’ll prioritize and upgrade.
Your options are:
-
Assassin: Focuses on quick, precise strikes requiring good timing and accuracy. It maximizes ambush tactics to deal high critical damage, especially when attacking from behind. The Assassin has two main skill trees—one for Sneak Attacks and one for Vital Hits—and its default Overdrive skill is a piercing attack that enhances critical damage.
Duelist: A balanced melee fighter who excels at straightforward sword combat and can perform powerful deflections. Easier for beginners, Duelists have 20 skills and their Overdrive prepares a strong counterattack that deals significant damage upon execution.
-
Elementalist: Masters of elemental magic, including fire and ice. This class relies on ranged attacks and AoE damage, exploiting enemy weaknesses by inflicting status effects like Burn or Freeze. It features two elemental branches—Fire and Ice—and its Overdrive skill combines both elements for high-impact damage.
-
Ruler: The most commanding class, centered on controlling and restricting enemies. It can summon shadow soldiers, impose status effects, and dominate the battlefield through powerful skills. The Ruler’s skill tree includes branches like Suppression and Gravitational Shift, with its Overdrive summoning shadow allies that aid in combat.
Unlocking skills involves using Skill Scrolls to purchase new abilities or enhance existing ones. Each class has two major skill trees to develop as you wish and can also buy perks from other trees to diversify your move set.
All classes grant access to the Overdrive skill, which perks depend on your chosen class. For example, Assassins’ Overdrive features a piercing attack, while Rulers’ allows summoning shadow soldiers, with effects and perks varying accordingly.
The Assassin class emphasizes swift, close-range damage, with a focus on short-range critical hits and ambush tactics. Its skill trees include:
-
Sneak Attack Tree: Skills like Cutting Rush, Ambush (increasing damage from behind), and Vertical Arts, culminating in an Assassin Overdrive that performs a piercing attack.
-
Vital Hit Branch: Features precise strikes like Internal Wound versus enemies’ core, along with effects that boost critical damage, attack, and back attack damage. This branch enhances critical hit rates and damage output.
The Duelist class favors melee combat with 20 skills, making it more beginner-friendly. Key skills include a powerful deflection move in Raging Strike, and skill trees focus on Raging Strike and One Punch branches—both offering attack-enhancing and defensive abilities. Its Overdrive unleashes a strong deflection that deals damage, perfect for sustaining prolonged fights.
The Elementalist class harnesses fire and ice magic to inflict status effects like Burn or Freeze, and to deal AoE damage. Its skill trees include Ice Branch—with skills such as Cold Storm and Iceberg—and Fire Branch with skills like Wildfire and Annihilation. The Elementalist Overdrive mixes elements for maximum damage, making it a ranged damage dealer with strategic elemental exploits.
Finally, the Ruler class concentrates on battlefield control, using skills like Black Hole and Full Moon Wheel to restrict enemy movement and control the flow of combat. Its skill trees include Touch Branch, focused on direct control like The Commander’s Touch, and Gravitational Shift Branch for precise energy strikes. The Ruler Overdrive summons shadow soldiers, providing additional support and tactical advantage in battles.
Progression through each class enhances your character’s overall stats, unlocks new skills, and offers unique effects depending on the class selected, giving you a broad array of combat options to create your ideal fighter.
