In Outer Worlds 2, your choices can significantly affect the rest of the game. While Obsidian is known for making impactful decisions, it’s a good idea to save your game before big moments, so you can reload if you’re unsure about a choice.
When it comes to Ava and Svoboda, the decision is pretty straightforward. One option offers a big advantage, so consider your choice carefully.
Siding With Alva (Marisol): Gains You a Companion
After finishing the Vox Relay part of the story on Paradise Island, you’ll unlock Golden Ridge. There, you can find, support, and recruit Marisol (also called Alva). Follow the questline, starting with On The Trail Of A Traitor, and proceed to Zyranium Manufacturing VII. Complete the quest Beginning At The Endpoint. Once done, you’ll choose to side with either Alva or Svoboda—think about your decision early.
As you explore underground areas and connect pieces of the story, you’ll discover that Svoboda is actually the saboteur framing Alva. When given the choice, just support “Alva.” She will survive, kill Svoboda, and join your team as a companion.
This route is highly recommended because you’ll have Marisol with you for the rest of the game, along with her skills and abilities. Plus, you’ll access a secret room with loot and story details.
Siding With Svoboda: Not Much in Return
While you still get access to the secret room, supporting Svoboda isn’t the best outcome. The game has a fixed story, meaning Svoboda will always be the guilty saboteur. There’s no room for debate in this case.
If you’re playing as a chaotic character, choosing Svoboda can make the story more interesting. The only unique thing here is fighting Marisol as an enemy, but you can reload your game later to support her if you want.
If you prefer justice and want a new companion, it’s better to side with Marisol. The choice is yours, and that’s part of what makes Outer Worlds 2 appealing to RPG players.
