Boost Your Ultimate Level in Umamusume: Pretty Derby by Completing Tasks

As you race through different events in Umamusume: Pretty Derby, you’ll begin to grasp the game mechanics better. During the races, your character will activate various skills. While most of these skills are acquired using skill points earned throughout the game, there’s one special exception.

Each character possesses a unique skill that can be found on their profile. This skill, often referred to as the ultimate, comes with its own level. By fulfilling certain criteria, you can enhance this level and improve the skill.

How to Enhance Your Ultimate

There are primarily two ways to upgrade your ultimate in Umamusume: Pretty Derby: one method is permanent, while the other is temporary. The permanent route is linked to the number of stars your character has. When you initially obtain a character, they can have between one to three stars.

You can elevate every character to five stars if you collect enough copies. The first starred character unlocks an ultimate, while the second star advances it to level two. When you reach three stars, your ultimate receives a new name, starting again at level one.

You can enhance this new ultimate up to level three permanently by achieving five stars for your character.

On the other hand, you can also temporarily boost your character’s ultimate by accumulating a specific number of fans during your Senior Year. This can occur three times during the year: in February, April, and October. You’ll need to reach 60,000 fans in February, 70,000 in April, and 120,000 in October to unlock the upgrade in your final year.

How to Use Your Ultimate

If you’ve spent some time in Umamusume: Pretty Derby, you’ve probably noticed that you cannot manually activate skills during a race. They have a random chance of being triggered when the conditions are suitable; the same goes for the ultimate. However, you can enhance the chances of activation by improving your Wit stat.

In career mode, having around 300-400 Wit will significantly boost the likelihood of your skills and ultimate activating at the right moments. For character builds aimed at PvP, you’ll need to aim for a much higher Wit as you’ll be facing stronger opponents.
