Bloodlines 2 Clans & Powers: Complete Guide

Select Language:

There are six clans in Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2: Brujha, Tremere, Banu Haqim, Ventrue, Lasombra, and Toreador. Each has unique skills, so which one is the best? Honestly, there isn’t a clear answer. It depends on what kind of gameplay you prefer. Some clans are stronger in combat, some excel at magic, and others focus on stealth. Your choice really comes down to your preferred playstyle.

Abilities are grouped into different categories based on their function—like Passives, Perks, Strikes, Effects, Relocates, and Taunts. Powers also fall into categories such as mind control, speed, magic types, etc. As you progress, you’ll unlock the abilities of other clans, which means you can eventually mix skills from different groups. This might look complicated at first, but it becomes easier once you get the hang of it.

I’ve spent quite some time playing and learning the game’s systems. Let me share what I’ve figured out so you can pick the clan that suits you best.

Bloodlines 2 Clan Affiliations
Each clan has affinities with certain ability groups, allowing you to use powers from other clans at reduced costs. These affinities are marked by symbols and include:

  • Celerity (lightning symbol): abilities that boost movement speed.
  • Presence (star): mind control focused on persuasion.
  • Potence (fist): physical attacks.
  • Dominate (chain): mind control that forces actions.
  • Blood Sorcery (pentagram): blood magic abilities.
  • Obfuscate (diamond): powers that hide you or enemies, like invisibility.
  • Oblivion (portal): shadow magic used for attack, trap, or movement.

For example, the Brujha clan is affiliated with Celerity, Presence, and Potence, while Tremere focuses on Dominate and Blood Sorcery. As you unlock abilities, your affinity for certain groups will make abilities from those categories cheaper to use.

Later in the game, you’ll gain access to other clans’ powers, but they’ll cost more unless you have a strong affinity for them. So, it’s okay if you’re unsure at first—pick a clan that appeals to you, knowing you’ll be able to expand your abilities later.

Which clan is the best? It all depends on your style:

  • If you prefer an action-packed, melee-focused character, Brujha is ideal. They excel at direct attacks and bonuses to melee damage when feeding.
  • For magic users, Tremere uses blood magic for explosive attacks or conjuring daggers.
  • Lasombra focuses on shadow magic to trap or isolate enemies.
  • Banu Haqim specializes in stealth, avoiding detection and remaining unseen.
  • Ventrue is more of a trickster, controlling or killing from a distance, and can clear rooms quietly and efficiently without being seen—this was my favorite choice.
  • Toreador emphasis on movement and some control abilities, though some might see them as less versatile.

Remember, once you reach a certain point in the story, you can learn abilities from any clan—even if they cost more. There’s no need to worry about making the perfect choice upfront. Just pick the one that looks most fun, and expand your skills as you progress.

Now, let’s explore each clan’s abilities:

Brujha Clan (melee combat specialists) include passive buffs like increased melee strength after feeding, fast attack strikes, rushing charges, taunts to enrage enemies, and powerful ground shocks. They also have perks that activate upon kills, boosting melee damage.

Tremere Clan (blood magic users) can curse enemies, create explosive blood-based attacks, and teleport short distances. Their abilities often involve blood manipulation and curses that swell enemies or cause explosions.

Banu Haqim Clan (stealth-focused) excel at remaining unseen and quietly taking out foes. Their powers include silent feeding, instant decapitation of weaker enemies, invisibility, and silencing enemy sounds to avoid detection.

Ventrue Clan (control from afar) possess skills to temporarily harden their skin, cause enemies to harm themselves, possess enemies, erase memories, and control multiple foes at once. They excel at strategic, distance combat.

Lasombra Clan (shadow magic) can cloak themselves in shadows, trap enemies with shadow beams, teleport through shadows, and slip into dimensions of oblivion. They are masters of shadow manipulation.

Toreador Clan (movement and control) feature enhanced agility after feeding, charming enemies into fight for you, teleportation, and trance abilities to manipulate foes. They’re more about finesse and control.

Ultimately, the best clan depends on what kind of vampire you’d like to play. Want to smash through problems? Brujha is perfect. Love using blood magic? Tremere might be your pick. Prefer stealth? Banu Haqim is best. If control and trickery excite you, Ventrue or Toreador fit the bill.

Keep in mind: as you move through the story, you can unlock abilities from all clans, making your initial choice more flexible. So, pick the one that first sparks your interest and go from there.
