If you’ve been pulling characters from the main banners in Arknights: Endfield, chances are you’ve encountered Catcher, a four-star tanky hero who works well in almost any team focusing on physical damage.
Catcher is a defender whose main goal is to protect his teammates and inflict strong physical effects on enemies. He excels at shielding the team and applying various physical status effects. While he’s not commonly your main damage dealer, he’s a good choice when your team needs extra defense alongside your offensive operators. His key attribute is his high Strength, with Will also being an important secondary trait.
To maximize his damage output and team survivability, pair Catcher with other operators who deal physical damage. Combining him with characters like the Endministrator, who also specializes in physical attacks and damage-inflicting effects, or early-game heroes like Chen Qianyu, can make your physical team even more effective. These combinations enable you to stack physical damage and status vulnerabilities efficiently.
When choosing weapons for Catcher, the Exemplar great sword is a strong option, boosting Strength, Attack, and Physical Damage. It’s especially effective if you use Catcher’s Battle Skill or Ultimate often. The Former Finery sword is another good weapon, providing Will and HP boosts, which support his defensive role. His signature weapon, OBS Heavy Burden, is tailored for him, offering boosts to Strength, Will, and max HP, making him even tankier and more powerful in melee.
For gear sets, the Frontiers set with Armor and extra oxygen tubes can increase team damage after Catcher recovers SP. The Eternal Xiranite set with Armor and auxiliary arms can boost damage after applying certain effects like Amp or Weakened. The Swordmancer set with TAC Gauntlets and Flint enhances physical damage and stagger effects post-physical status application. Lastly, Armored MSGR with Jacket, Gloves, and Gyro provides damage reduction when his HP drops below 50%, giving him added durability.
In team setups, Catcher thrives in physical damage squads that focus on dealing various types of physical hits and exploiting vulnerabilities. Pairing him with operators like Endministrator or Chen Qianyu creates synergy, emphasizing physical offense and defense. He can serve a primarily defensive role, setting up status effects for damage dealers like Chen Qianyu to follow up with high damage.
The best team members for Catcher often include Akekuri, who can regenerate SP to support offensive skills, or Pogranichnik, who replenishes even more SP and deals greater damage. Keep in mind, Catcher is less effective in elemental or arts-based teams, as his buffs target physical damage.
Upgrading Catcher’s abilities priority should focus on his defensive skills, especially his Battle Skill, to enhance shield strength. Following that, improving his Ultimate and Combo Skill will increase his damage and crowd control. His Basic Attack is less important compared to his special skills, which are more impactful in team play.
As you continue to upgrade Catcher, unlocking his Combat Talents will further enhance his defenses and damage. One talent boosts his resistance with Will, while another causes his Ultimate to produce shockwaves dealing damage and knocking down enemies on hit. Investing in these talents makes him an even more formidable protector and damage inflicter in your team.
