To enhance your health charges in The First Berserker: Khazan, you’ll need to locate the various Netherworld Energy orbs spread throughout the game’s different regions. These orbs are essential for healing Khazan, starting you off with three initial charges. With effort, you can boost this number to nine charges, significantly improving your chances of overcoming the challenges that lie ahead in the game.

Finding these Netherworld Energy orbs becomes particularly crucial when facing mid- to late-game bosses in The First Berserker: Khazan, as they can make a vital difference in difficult encounters. Your first opportunity to upgrade your Netherworld Energy charge won’t come until you defeat the Blade Phantom and access the Embars Ruins, at which point you’ll be limited to just three charges while you familiarize yourself with the game mechanics. If you reach the late-game bosses without collecting additional Netherworld Energy, I highly suggest going back to gather them.

Locations for All Netherworld Energy in Khazan

Initially, you start with three Netherworld Energy orbs, which serve as your primary source of healing. In the early game, these charges are crucial because your options for health restoration are limited. Although you can use less effective items like Soul Tear Dust for minor healing, it’s wise to prioritize upgrading your Vitality stat early on in The First Berserker: Khazan. Save your Netherworld Energy charges for emergency situations, which will arise frequently as you progress.

After navigating the early parts of the game, you’ll find five additional Netherworld Energy orbs during various story missions to help bolster your health charges, allowing you to better confront formidable foes like Elamein or Trokka. In total, you can obtain up to nine Netherworld Energy health charges, with the ninth charge coming from the gear set bonus provided by the Ashen Wolf set. Here are the locations where you can find Netherworld Energy:

Region Location Blade Nexus Mission
Charnak Mountain Range Embars Ruins Forgotten Temple Entrance Forgotten Temple
Charnak Mountain Range Skoffa Cave Collapsed Mine Strange Stench
Pell Los Plateau El Ravaca Village Underground Water Facility Devoured Village
Heart of Pell Los Wastus Canyon Destroyed Ruins Atlante the Precise
Vitalon Capital of the Empire Great Temple Underground Ruins Forbidden Passage The Vow

Specific Locations for Each Netherworld Energy Upgrade

Embars Ruins Location
To claim your first Netherworld Energy upgrade, begin at the Forgotten Temple Entrance in Embars Ruins. Ascend the large staircase until you reach a chamber glowing red. Ascend the second staircase and take a right at the top, continuing through a metal gate to find the energy orb.

Skoffa Cave Location
Starting from the Collapsed Mine Blade Nexus, climb the ladder and be ready to block bats at the top. Then, scale the scaffolding, battling or dodging spiders along the way. When you arrive at a fork in the beams, turn left and follow the path until you discover the Netherworld Energy at the beam’s peak.

El Ravaca Village Location
From the Underground Water Facility Blade Nexus, descend into the chamber with the Revenant Devourer. It’s possible to bypass this enemy to avoid hallucinations. Climb the ladders to enter a pipe and follow this path. After exiting, turn left and navigate through the spider-infested rooms until you find a ladder that leads to another pipe. Keep turning left until you spot the energy orb in a room filled with dead bodies.

Wastus Canyon Location
At the Destroyed Ruins Blade Nexus, progress straight ahead past the pulsating red trees. Before exiting this area, veer left instead of heading through the gate, where you’ll find the glowing Netherworld Energy next to some jars.

Great Temple Underground Ruins Location
Starting from the Forbidden Passage Blade Nexus, go up the stairs and turn left into the hallway. Make another left to enter a room with statues. Continue left until you see a ladder in front of a large statue. Follow this path until you find a hole in the floor, dropping into a plague-infested area to surprise the enemy below. After clearing this room, continue through the bloodied water, take a right at the fork, and proceed until you see a glowing item. Turn right again to collect the Netherworld Energy on the upper level of the previous room.

Acquiring the Ashen Wolf Set

The Ashen Wolf set is your ultimate resource for gaining extra Netherworld Energy charges. You can craft this set early on at the blacksmith in The First Berserker: Khazan, and equipping all five pieces grants you one additional charge. This is the sole method in the game to reach a total of nine Netherworld Energy charges. Locate the Ashen Wolf scroll in Phraugh Village, accessible via the Central Storehouse Entrance during the "First Act of Revenge" mission.

Most players will collect numerous Netherworld Energy upgrades naturally while playing, as they aren’t typically hidden off the main routes. The Ashen Wolf set is an excellent option for securing another charge, although it may not suit every playing style as it is centered around greatsword use. Personally, I find that eight charges are usually sufficient to handle even the toughest late-game bosses, but the set remains versatile even for players who don’t fully utilize the greatsword’s benefits.
