Time Stranger’s story centers on a future agent who travels back in time to stop a disaster and uncover secrets about the past Digimon. During your journey, you’ll build and train a team of over 400 unique Digimon.
Managing the game’s many systems for raising Digimon can be tricky, especially for newcomers. Here are some helpful tips to get started and ideas for creating your best team.
Raise a Variety of Digimon
With more than 400 Digimon available, don’t limit yourself to just six in your party! Each Digimon has different attributes, elements, stats, and skills, which can make a big difference in battles. Keep multiple Digimon in your storage so you can switch them out as needed, especially to counter specific enemy types. For example, if fighting a Virus-type Digimon, having at least three Vaccine types in your team will give you an advantage.
All Digimon earn experience from battles, allowing you to level up backups even when they’re not fighting. This helps them evolve into stronger forms and prepare for future battles.
Wait to Convert Digimon
In this game, you don’t catch Digimon by capturing them in battle. Instead, each encounter increases your Scan Rate for that Digimon, and once it hits 100%, you can convert the data into a physical Digimon and add it to your team. You can also store scan progress up to 200%, which grants bonus stats when you finally convert. It’s best to wait until the higher limit to gain these extra bonuses, as they are valuable for future evolutions.
Optimize Digivolution and De-Digivolution
Evolving your Digimon is key to making them stronger, but de-evolving (or De-Digivolving) is just as important. Many Digimon have 4 to 6 possible evolutions, each with specific stat requirements. When a Digimon Digivolves, it carries over one percent of its stats into its new form, which accumulates over multiple evolutions and de-evolutions. These cumulative stats aren’t lost when you De-Digivolve, so you can repeatedly cycle through forms to build stronger stats for specific evolutions.
Prioritize Agent Skills
Besides increasing overall stats, you should focus on Agent Skills. These skills can boost your Digimon’s base stats based on their personality or reduce the cost of Digivolving into certain personalities. Combining these effects makes evolving your Digimon easier and more effective.
You earn the points needed to upgrade your Agent Rank and unlock new skills mainly by completing side quests and the main story. Since completing quests often unlocks additional side quests, doing them all will help you gather more points and set your team up for success.
Use Attachment Skills
Even with many Digimon at your disposal, only six can be active at a time. To cover all elements and attributes, you can equip your Digimon with Attachment Skills—special abilities that provide elemental or attribute bonuses. These skills can be acquired either by purchasing Skill Discs from vendors or by leveling up certain Digimon until they learn new skills, which you can then transfer to other Digimon.
Change Personality in the Digifarm
Personality impacts how your Digimon’s stats grow with each level. There are four main personality categories, each suited for different play styles:
- Valor: Boosts Attack, ideal for physical attackers.
- Amicability: Enhances Defense, good for supporters or tanks.
- Philanthropy: Increases Special Power, suited for healers.
- Wisdom: Improves Intelligence, great for magic attackers.
When a Digimon is converted, it gets assigned a random personality. You can influence their personality through conversations or by using Training Sets in the Digifarm, which direct personality growth and significantly boost specific stats. Training takes 30 real-time minutes, and you can speed it up by paying Yen, though this is best saved for later when Yen isn’t scarce.
Managing these systems carefully will help you develop a powerful team capable of tackling any challenge in Time Stranger.
