Terminull Brigade is a sci-fi themed action roguelike hero shooter where players face complicated levels and intense boss battles in cooperative play. Even if you’re experienced with roguelikes or hero shooters, this game is fast-paced and highly challenging. Depending on the level difficulty and your character builds, you may find yourself quickly overwhelmed.
If you’re new to Terminull Brigade, you might wonder where to begin. Here are some beginner tips and strategies to help improve your chances of success.
Master One Rogueteer at a Time
There are several Rogueteers available when you first start, but initially, you can only unlock and play as one. As you progress, you’ll unlock more heroes. However, it’s best not to switch heroes too often. Focus on mastering one Rogueteer’s moves before trying another. This approach is similar to most hero shooters and is especially important here because the character roster is small.
Stick to One Build
As you move through the levels, you can upgrade your character with new weapons, abilities, and cooldown reductions. But be cautious about replacing old abilities with new, weaker ones. Unless you’re certain a new ability is better, it’s smarter to upgrade existing skills rather than switch them out. Developing a consistent build helps you become stronger and more effective.
Hoard Your Ultimate Ability
In many hero shooters, players use their ultimate abilities frequently and openly. But in Terminull Brigade, ultimates take longer to charge, so saving them for critical moments is key. Avoid using your ultimate on a few enemies unless necessary. Save it for when your team is under heavy attack or overwhelmed. Waiting for the right moment maximizes its impact.
Don’t Dally
This game moves fast. After each room or boss fight, you can upgrade your character, buy weapons, or recover health. However, don’t spend too much time shopping or preparing. Levels are timed, and taking too long can be costly, especially at higher difficulties. While upgrading is useful, doing it too slowly can delay progress and upset your teammates. Focus on upgrading existing abilities rather than constantly swapping them out, as experience shows upgrading is usually more effective.
Group Enemies Together
Use your abilities to gather enemies into clusters, making it easier to deal damage with area-of-effect attacks. Many skills can group foes, slow them, or create large effects. When facing big groups in large rooms, try to use cooldowns that draw enemies together, then follow up with powerful AoE attacks. Even melee Rogueteers benefit from this tactic, helping you clear enemies quickly and efficiently, which is crucial given the timed nature of each level.
Scan for Weak Points
You can target weak spots on bosses and certain enemies to maximize your damage. While the game’s tutorial doesn’t emphasize this, it’s a valuable tactic. Weak points often appear as exposed areas on the boss’s limbs or armor, especially when they’re performing specific attacks. Targeting these zones allows your cooldown abilities to do more damage. Keep an eye on your allies as well, since reviving teammates during boss fights can turn the tide.
Stay Grouped with Your Team
It’s easy to get separated while moving through stages, especially at higher difficulty levels. When progressing, ensure everyone enters each new room at the same time—both for regular encounters and boss fights. Working together is critical for survival. Don’t get ahead of your team; coordinated movement improves your chances of success.
Don’t Waste Cooldowns
Use your cooldown abilities wisely. In boss battles, timing is especially important. When a boss activates certain moves, it often becomes immune to damage. Attacking during these times is pointless and could waste your cooldowns. Wait until the boss is vulnerable to maximize the effectiveness of your special attacks. Save your ultimate for critical moments when your team is overwhelmed to make the most out of it.
