While playing Baldur’s Gate 3, it’s easy to miss how funny the game can be. The interactions at camp and the jokes among your companions often bring a smile, even when facing serious threats. Sometimes, the humor comes from unexpected moments.
We see NPCs acting oddly, players using game mechanics in surprising ways, and sheer bad luck leading to hilarious situations. For instance, one player thought a particular NPC was just a joke character, only to discover they were integral to the game.
Wyll Keeps Dying During His Intro Fight
Wyll makes a big impression when you first meet him at the Emerald Grove, where he shows off his flair while helping fight goblins. Players can recruit him later and follow his story. However, Reddit user Iwasdracula missed out on this since Wyll died immediately during his first battle, leading them to believe it was all a joke.
“I thought Wyll was a joke character,” they wrote. “When I started the game, I got to the grove and fought the goblins. Wyll appeared with a cool intro, but he got killed on the first turn. I thought it was a funny scripted moment and just moved on without reviving him, missing his whole story.”
Although Wyll isn’t the most popular companion in Baldur’s Gate 3, this was a rough moment even for him. Many players have shared experiences of Wyll dying in his first battle or being completely overlooked by newcomers. “It’s funny that they included that scene to make him memorable since many players miss him entirely,” noted one user.
Another player commented, “The developers clearly have it out for Wyll. His AI is so bad during the grove fight. He casts a spell that only hits one goblin and often gets killed running into the crowd.” On the other hand, some players disagree, saying, “It’s wild how often people say he dies in this fight. He’s never come close to dying in my games.” It seems opinions on Wyll really vary among players.
