If you’re exploring the Shatterscarp region in Avowed, you might be familiar with the treasure map feature. In each major area, you can discover up to three treasure maps that lead you to locations where you can find some of the game’s top items.
One of these treasures is the Dead Man’s Mail, which can be quite elusive if you haven’t been observant of the nearby landmarks. However, the reward is definitely worth the effort.
Where to Find the Dead Man’s Mail Treasure Map
To locate the Dead Man’s Mail treasure in Shatterscarp, you’ll need to delve further into the area. If you’re new to this location, it’s advisable to gather some essential gear and enhance your equipment to a high tier before attempting this quest, as the surroundings are teeming with formidable enemies.
When you’re ready, navigate to the spot marked as the Great Sand Sea on your map. Look for a rock formation featuring a noticeable gap between two structures on the right side. You’ll find the map on a skeleton lying at the bottom of this gap.
The skeleton will be resting on a mattress inside a nearby camp.
How to Obtain the Dead Man’s Mail Treasure
You can claim the Dead Man’s Mail treasure even if you don’t find the map, as long as you go to the correct location. Once you collect the treasure, it will complete the treasure map quest, and the map will no longer be available on the skeleton. To find the treasure, head just north of the Great Sand Sea.
In the Shark’s Teeth area, look for a Tago’s Tower beacon. To the north of it, you’ll notice a hidden building against the wall. Teleport to this beacon and make your way toward the northern structure, where a broken pillar will provide a route to the top.
Climbing through this pillar will lead you to the opposite side of the building, where you’ll find the golden chest containing the treasure.
Opening this chest will require three of your lockpicks.
The primary item you’ll receive from this chest is the Necropants armor, which can summon a specter to fight alongside you in battle.
