Today’s Connections puzzle presents a fresh challenge with shorter words compared to typical phrases you’ve encountered in the past. This adds a unique twist, making it even difficult for seasoned players who think they’ve seen it all. Personally, I found this puzzle to be one of the more challenging ones, but with the right hints, you can uncover the solutions.
As in every Connections puzzle, you have only four mistakes to make while trying to pair up four groups of four words. This gives you fewer opportunities than the daily Wordle, but you’ll find a wealth of contextual clues to guide you. If you can spot the correct patterns, identifying the categories for each Connections group should be manageable.
Today’s Connections Category Hints

The theme for today’s puzzle revolves around descriptors for other words, names, or colors, providing you with a set of short and simple phrases. Because of the way these words function, I found it tricky to categorize them, as each can serve as a noun or an adjective depending on context. However, once I figured out that today’s puzzle features words intended to pair with others, the solution became clearer.
If you’re struggling with the puzzle as well, here are some helpful hints to give you a better idea of each category:
- One category concerns descriptors for terms related to colors.
- Another category focuses on terms used to describe specific types of terrain.
- One category includes the last names of individuals with the same first name.
- One category involves ways to describe colors without using the word "color."
If you want to dive deeper into your hint search, checking out the category names can offer additional assistance. There are also spoilers available if you need help concluding a specific category.

Yellow Answers: Revealed & Explained
This section was probably the easiest for me, as the word COLOR had already put similar concepts in my mind. The terms SHADE, HUE, and TONE are all descriptors used to explain how a color can differ from others in a painting or other artwork. This inherent relationship among these four words helped them fit together seamlessly for the correct answer.
Green Answers: Revealed & Explained
Initially, I saw DALE and GLEN as fitting together because they’re characters from The Walking Dead. I was unaware of their different meanings until I searched for a term to group with HOLLOW. While investigating, I learned that HOLLOW is often used to describe a valley, making it easier to connect it with GLEN and DALE.
Blue Answers: Revealed & Explained
Given the color theme echoed in earlier categories, Bob ROSS was already in my thoughts. Since MARLEY refers to Bob Marley and HOPE stands for Bob Hope, it was straightforward to continue the pattern to find other famous Bobs. With Bob DOLE as the concluding element, this section of the puzzle was relatively simple to decipher.
Purple Answers: Revealed & Explained
This part of the puzzle was initially confusing to me, as I wasn’t aware that words like GENRE or GARY could be color anagrams. Intrigued, I investigated additional meanings for GARY beyond being a name. With past categories confirming that names can belong to their own section, I discovered that DRE, GENRE, and even LUBE are linked to colors, allowing me to place GARY in the same context.
