Today’s puzzle in Connections presented a unique challenge as it featured longer and more complex words than what we often encounter. I found today’s puzzle harder than previous ones, where the vocabulary was a bit easier to handle. The upside of these bigger words is that they come with more direct definitions, making the clues even more useful.
In comparison to the array of five-letter words we see in daily Wordle, today’s Connections puzzle marks a departure, as it includes some of the longest words featured in a New York Times game. While this added complexity can be daunting, it allows for fewer definitions, though it can make finding links between words trickier.

I stumbled upon a solution for one category by experimenting, which was a mix of luck and guesswork. Yet, I noticed several themes that can guide players. In my deductions, I found that today’s puzzle revolves around beginnings and titles, organizing categories by what things are called rather than their functions.
If you’re finding the puzzle a bit tough, here are some clues to jump-start your thinking about the category topics:
- One category includes flavors associated with a type of candy that can be chewed and blown into bubbles.
- Another category contains terminology connected to the start of a journey.
- One category consists of song titles derived from a well-known collection of music.
- The last category involves prefixes that describe tiny cylindrical items or anatomical parts.
If you’re inclined to dive deeper into your clue-searching, consider examining the category names as they could offer extra guidance, with spoilers available if you need assistance with a specific category.

Yellow Answers: Revealed & Explained
The first section, regarding flavors of gum, felt particularly straightforward to me since BUBBLEGUM was already on my mind. Common flavors like BUBBLEGUM, CINNAMON, and MENTHOL are ones I often get from friends, and WINTERGREEN is a classic that fits well since it lacks alternative definitions.
Green Answers: Revealed & Explained
Initially, I found the starting point category perplexing, but once I paired SPARK and CATALYST, I made progress, connecting these ideas with the brainstorming concept of a LAUNCHPAD for generating new projects or ideas.
Blue Answers: Revealed & Explained
This category was trickier, mainly because the terms led to confusion. At first, I grouped AUTUMN LEAVES and SUMMERTIME with WINTERGREEN, linking them to seasons, which only partially hit the mark. Then, realizing WITCHCRAFT and UNFORGETTABLE were both classic songs from the 1950s helped me categorize the rest correctly.
Purple Answers: Revealed & Explained
At first glance, I struggled to make connections within this category, but the word FALLOPIAN guided me, leading me to focus on the shared theme of "tube" with words like TEST and VACUUM coming together in the end.
