Sony is quietly releasing a new PS5 UI update in April 2026 that includes some small but appreciated improvements. Players who have received the update report that Sony has slightly redesigned the top menu bar on the home screen, now splitting the tabs for the PlayStation Store, PS Plus, and other sections.
Reddit users have shared screenshots showcasing the updated menu layout, giving a clear look at what’s changed. One example shows the top menu bar divided into separate tabs for the PS Store, PS Plus, games, and library, which can be navigated using the L1 and R1 buttons on the DualSense controller.
Many users think the new UI looks cleaner and is easier to browse, though it would be even better if Sony added folder functionality and customizable themes.
Currently, it appears that this update is being rolled out to participants in the PS5 beta program. This program allows users to test upcoming system software and features before they are made available to everyone, with user feedback helping shape the final version. Keep in mind, beta updates might not always become part of the official release.
We will continue to monitor and update our readers when this new PS5 UI update becomes accessible to all players.
