In Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, players start with a variety of vehicles to choose from. As you progress, you’ll unlock more options, but selecting the right one at first can be tough.
This guide covers all the different vehicle types in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. You’ll learn what affects their stats and how to customize them, both in terms of how they perform on the track and how they look—helping you play your best and win races.
### Every Vehicle Class in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds
Like most racing games, vehicles are divided into different classes. Each class affects their performance stats, with each vehicle excelling in a specific area.
You’ll notice that each character also has their own class and stats. These influence the performance of the vehicle you pair them with. Combining a Handling character with a Handling vehicle generally makes controlling the vehicle easier, giving you better control during turns.
That said, mixing and matching is possible. For example, you can use an Acceleration character with a Power vehicle. As you select characters and vehicles, you’ll see how their stats impact overall performance.
#### Acceleration
Acceleration is about how quickly your vehicle reaches top speed after you hit the gas. Vehicles with high acceleration will start faster and recover more quickly after hits or collisions. However, having high acceleration doesn’t mean your vehicle is faster overall; it just means it gets up to speed faster.
Vehicles with high acceleration are especially useful for beginners and for recovering from mistakes on tricky tracks. Pairing an acceleration-focused vehicle with a Speed character can help you reach higher maximum speeds.
#### Handling
Handling refers to how easy it is to steer and navigate turns. Vehicles with good handling are easier to control around corners, which helps you avoid falling off ledges or crashing.
While some players might prefer speed for raw quickness, handling is crucial when dealing with hazards and obstacles. Good handling makes races more manageable, especially in chaotic multiplayer or Grand Prix modes.
#### Speed
Speed measures the maximum velocity your vehicle can reach. Keeping this stat high is typically beneficial because it allows you to overtake opponents and finish faster.
However, vehicles built solely for speed might be harder to control, especially on complex tracks with many hazards. Pairing a speed vehicle with a character from a different class, like Handling, can help balance control with raw speed. Alternatively, some players go all-in on speed for a riskier but thrilling experience.
#### Power
Power determines how tough your vehicle is and how well it withstands hits. Vehicles with higher power can take more damage and won’t lose rings if you crash into walls. Some Power vehicles even have the added benefit of not losing rings upon collisions, which is a helpful feature.
However, increasing Power usually means sacrificing other stats, like Speed or Handling, so choose this build if durability is your priority.
#### Boost
Boost is unique: most Boost stats come from vehicles rather than characters. All hoverboard vehicles provide a boost stat, letting you accelerate faster during races.
Using a hoverboard increases your boost ability, allowing for more frequent speed bursts. Tricks and power slides build up your boost meter, and performing these maneuvers can shoot you into top speeds. Combining a Speed character with a Boost vehicle maximizes your top speed potential, but keep in mind this often reduces your overall handling and acceleration.
### Which Vehicle Type Is Best?
The best vehicle for you depends on your winning style. Combining high speed and boost is a common strategy, but that setup can be risky if you’re falling off edges or missing turns. CrossWorlds supports many different builds, especially when you incorporate gadgets.
Experienced players often consider how they’ll face CPU racers—sometimes, raw speed isn’t the most important factor if the race is chaotic with many items flying around. In such cases, vehicles with higher Power or Acceleration may give you an edge.
Ultimately, experimenting with different setups will help you find what works best. Your preferences may change based on the race mode, track, and challenges ahead, so trying out various builds is key to mastering the game.
