One of the standout features in Suikoden 1 HD Remaster and throughout the series is the combination attacks referred to as "Unite" attacks. Similar to the concept found in Chrono Trigger, certain teammates can collaborate to unleash special moves that deal significant damage to enemies.
For the most part, these Unite attacks involve two characters, although some combinations allow for three characters to team up as well. Intriguingly, there is only one Unite attack that includes four characters in the game. This guide aims to provide all the details you need about these attacks in one place. Enjoy!
Understanding Unite Attack Damage
To calculate the damage dealt by a Unite attack, simply add up the attack power of the participating characters and multiply it by the damage multiplier. It’s important to note that a critical hit will triple a character’s damage, so in cases where two characters regularly score critical hits, they might be better off attacking individually rather than performing a Unite attack. Additionally, it’s essential to remember that Rune Pieces do not affect Unite attacks in any way.
Two-Character Unite Attacks
Most Unite attacks will deal double damage to a single opponent. There are exceptions where certain attacks prioritize damage over balance for a character. Notable Unite attacks include the Bandit Attack, which delivers higher damage without drawbacks, and the Master Pupil Attack, featuring McDohl, who is a consistent member of your party.
Example of Two-Character Unite Attacks:
Unite Attack Name | Character 1 | Character 2 | Number of Targets | Damage Multiplier | Additional Effects |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Bandit Attack | Varkas | Sydonia | 1 Enemy | 2x Damage | – |
Beat ‘Em Up Attack | Pahn | Ronnie Bell | 1 Enemy | 3x Damage | Pahn unbalanced |
Bumpy Attack | Krin | Humphrey | 1 Enemy | 1.5x Damage | – |
Dragon Knight Attack | Futch | Milia | 1 Enemy | 1.5x Damage | – |
Master Pupil Attack | McDohl | Kai | All Enemies | 1x Damage | – |
Three-Character Unite Attacks
The three-character Unite attacks offer a bit more variety, with many doing double damage to a single target. Among these, the Martial Arts Attack stands out as it inflicts massive damage across all enemies.
Unite Attack Name | Character 1 | Character 2 | Character 3 | Number of Targets | Damage Multiplier | Additional Effects |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Elf Attack | Kirkis | Sylvina | Stallion | 1 Enemy | 2x Damage | – |
Family Attack | Eileen | Lepant | Sheena | 1 Enemy | 2x Damage | – |
Flash Attack | Fukien | Kai | Liukan | 1 Enemy | 3x Damage | Characters unbalanced |
Martial Arts Attack | Pahn | Morgan | Eikei | All Enemies | 2x Damage | – |
The Only Four-Character Unite Attack: The Blacksmith Attack
The Blacksmith Attack is unique as it’s the sole Unite attack involving four characters, specifically blacksmiths: Maas, Meese, Moose, or Mace. Unfortunately, you can’t use this attack as soon as you reach the Warriors’ Village to recruit Moose. Conditions for accessing it only emerge after you’ve defeated Neclord.
Attack Name | Character 1 | Character 2 | Character 3 | Character 4 | Number of Targets | Damage Multiplier |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Blacksmith Attack | Maas | Meese | Moose | Mose | 1 Enemy | 3x Damage |
Unite attacks add an exciting layer to battles in Suikoden 1 HD Remaster, allowing players to combine their might for impactful results.
