Many of Destiny 2’s RPG elements have made a comeback in Destiny: Rising, which has been simplified to suit mobile gamers. One familiar system is status effects—these are buffs and debuffs that can influence how much damage your character does or how well enemies can survive.
Understanding how these effects work might seem complicated at first, but most are straightforward and explained during gameplay. In this guide, we provide a quick overview of how status effects function in Destiny: Rising and list all common effects that you can use to strengthen yourself or weaken enemies.
### What Are Status Effects?
Status effects are character modifiers that either boost or reduce your fighting ability. These can include anything from increased weapon damage to slower movement speed. There’s no limit to how many effects can occur on a target; this includes both you and your enemies. Usually, if a status effect happens again, its timer resets.
### All Status Effects
There are currently ten main status effects in Destiny: Rising. Most of them are applied through character skills or during specific activities.
| Status Effect | Description | Notes |
|——————-|———————————————————–|——————————————————|
| Being Healed | You are receiving healing powers. | This includes instant heals and effects that heal over time. |
| Damage Buff | Increases the damage of your weapons or abilities. | Check your abilities to see what type of damage is boosted. |
| Damage Resist | Reduces all incoming damage. | Affects all damage types; in Player vs Player, the effect is usually weaker. |
| Scorched | Enemies take continuous Solar damage over time. | — |
| Suppressed | All your abilities are disabled. | Abilities in use are also shut down. |
| Blinded | Your screen fills with a bright flash. Enemies stop firing weapons in PvE. | Enemies stop attacking, and in PvP, your screen is white. |
| Disabled | You cannot restore health or shields. | Does not affect overshields. |
| Accelerated | Your ground movement speed increases. | Only boosts ground running speed. Mid-air movement isn’t affected. |
Aside from these general effects, some characters may have their own unique status effects, like Serenity on Attal or Confined for Gwynn. These are usually listed in the character’s Relic Tree, and hovering or tapping the keyword can show what it does. They tend to work similarly to the standard effects listed above.
### What Is the Best Status Effect?
For most Player vs Environment (PvE) tasks, focus on healing effects and damage boosts. Healing is key for tougher challenges or solo runs, and damage bonuses help make difficult content easier for your entire team. If you want both benefits, consider using the Tan-2 character.
Regarding specific effects, Blinded can be surprisingly powerful if you can set it off consistently. With her Mini Missile passive, Attal can easily blind enemies tagged by her Arc Missile ability, rendering tougher foes harmless. For added survivability, characters like Gwynn or Maat, who have Damage Resistance effects, are good choices.
