Playing StarRupture won’t take long to realize that the main part of the game is about factory simulation. You’ll be producing your own materials, figuring out how to automate the process, and then delivering these to one of five corporations. In exchange, you’ll receive more items to help you move forward.
But even with all that, don’t forget about exploring the open world. You’ll need to do this to find blueprints and other useful items. While in this world, keeping an eye on your stats is important. There are many ways to boost them, both for a short time and permanently.
StarRupture is currently in Early Access, so some details may change before the full game is released.
All Stats and How to Improve Them
When you start playing, press Tab to open your character overview. You’ll see five main stats represented by bars: Shield, Health, Calories, Hydration, and Toxicity.
There’s also a sixth stat called Stamina, which isn’t shown on that screen but plays a big role in gameplay. Here’s what each stat does and how to fix or improve it:
| Stat | Overview and How to Fix |
|---|---|
| Shield | Your shield is like auto-regenerating armor that is used up first when you get hit by aliens or environmental hazards. It’s shown as a blue bar above your health. If you avoid damage for a few seconds, it automatically refills. Note: There’s no temporary way to boost shield strength. |
| Health | Represents your total damage capacity. If it reaches zero, you die instantly and will need to find your body to recover items. You can regain health by unlocking the Medtool or eating specific food items like Star Tears. |
| Calories | Shows how much food your character has. It decreases over time, but you can keep it full by collecting Polifruit and eating them. Better food recipes are unlocked as you progress. |
| Hydration | Represents your water level, which also decreases over time. Eating Hydrobulbs or cooking recipes with them helps keep it high. If it drops below zero, you’ll take damage. |
| Toxicity | This is a special stat that increases when you eat certain foods that say they raise Toxicity. You don’t want it to hit 100. To lower it, eat Purplant foods or wait for it to decrease naturally over time. |
| Stamina | Shows how much you can sprint, double jump, or dash. Once it’s gone, you become more vulnerable to enemies—making it the most important stat. You can boost stamina faster by eating foods containing Serpent Root, but those increase Toxicity, so use with care. |
Increasing Your Stats Permanently
Aside from temporary fixes, you can permanently improve your stats using LEMs. You’ll get these items early in the game. Once you unlock the LEM Station and level up, you can attach them to your character.
You can upgrade your Movement, Combat, and Survival stats, which unlock different types of LEM slots. Check your character screen’s last section for your progress. Here are the LEMs that can boost each stat:
| Stat | LEM Name |
|---|---|
| Shield | Shieldgiver |
| Health | Lifegiver |
| Calories | Dietician |
| Hydration | Irrigator |
| Toxicity | Detoxifier |
| Stamina | Endurancegiver, Runner |
Getting these LEMs helps you improve your stats over the long term and makes your character stronger.
